China War and Militarism

In 1931, the Manchurian Incident came as turning point in domestic politics, imperial

expansion, and departure from the international system of cooperative diplomacy. The

Tokugawa Shogunate looked to to explicitly weaken the Daimyo. As much as the Tokugawa

Shogunate set in place new strategies of governance, their large success is attributable partially

to positive refinement of previous policies of Shogunates. In this essay, I argue

that the Tokugawa Shogunate brought forth stability and peace by making amendments in

governance's legal, administrative and fiscal realms.
