am aware of the importance of non-verbal communication in the classroom. Apart from hand
gestures and facial expressions, other techniques of non-verbal communication that could be
used in error correction in the English classroom include ways of talking, posture, appearance,
head movements, body contact, closeness, and hand movements. These techniques could be
used to help students understand the meaning of words and phrases and to help them improve
their pronunciation and grammar. For example, a teacher could use hand gestures to indicate the
correct pronunciation of a word or phrase or use facial expressions to show that a student has
made a mistake. Similarly, a teacher could use posture and body contact to show that they are
interested in what a student is saying or use head movements to indicate agreement or
disagreement with what a student is saying. For example, a teacher could place a hand on a
student’s shoulder or arm to show that they are listening and that they understand what the
student is saying. Similarly, a teacher could use body contact to show support for a student who is
struggling with a particular concept by placing a hand on their back or arm. However, it’s
important to note that body contact should always be used appropriately and with the student’s
consent. Overall, non-verbal communication is an important tool for teachers to use in the
classroom as it can help students understand the meaning of words and phrases and improve
their overall language skills.
