De Concentration It is the transfer of power, authority or responsibility or the discretion to plan,
decide and manage from central to local levels; administrative and sectorial.

ARMM Is the only autonomous region here in the Philippines? This region is given a special privilege
of having additional power. They technically have higher powers than the other LGUs.
Barangay Their function is to promote peace and order in a smaller scope. They are entitled to have
their own risk reduction team that will cater to the needs of their residents.

Sangguniang Panlalawigan are responsible for maintaining peace and order in the whole province
as well as reviewing the city ordinances passed by the Sangguniang Panglungsod.

countries, particularly in the analysis of democratization, and specifically the consolidation of
democratic political regimes.

Local autonomy refers to “self – governing”. It is also granting of more powers authority,
responsibilities and resources by the national government to local government units in order to be self
– reliant and active partners.

government units (LGUs).
