NARRATIVE REPORT ON CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM

School Year 2022 – 2023

The Department of education issues the enclosed Career Guidance Program (CGP) for the school
year 2022-2023 which aims to establish guidelines and procedures for its implementation. The CGP aims
to guide the elementary and secondary level students in choosing career tracks that they intend to pursue
through informed career choices towards becoming a productive and contributing individuals.

Palao Elementary School conducted an orientation to parents, learners and co-teacher on the CGP
this Friday March 17, 2023. It focuses on school orientation on the implementation of Career Guidance
Program where learners and parents plan and selects on the school preferred platforms. Learners may
create a physical (hardcopy) portfolio, using durable materials that can withstand common elements
(folder or other materials available at home). The Guidance Counselor designate in school informed the
learners through classroom based orientation in a combined grade levels like 5&6, and grades 3& 4. The
session procedure in every classroom last only from 50 to 60 minutes including in introduction, asking
learners concern, offering possible sources of information (magazines, newspapers, online articles) and
assisting the creation of action plans/outputs.

Career guidance consultation helps to assist learners by equipping them with significant
information related to the following: (a) schools, (b) scholarships (c) courses /degree programs (d) career
development activities (e) labor market information (f) clubs/ organizations (g) skills development and
certification and requirements for the different curriculum exits and assessment tools. The learners now
have an idea on what they will pursue and continue as their ladder of education progresses. The school
head in Palao as program implementers, lead in the supervision and monitoring of school career guidance
activities, personally oriented the parents, allocated some budget for materials related expenses and will
submit the school CGP implementation report to the division office.
