Question1: This extract from a Master dissertation contains some mistakes in punctuation
and three fragments; identify them and correct them (one punctuation mistake) (4pts)

This study is conducted for investigating the problem of English language anxiety

and its impact on Master Economics learners’ oral performance in their learning process at

Mohamed Ben Ahmed 2 University, it aims at achieving three main objectives. First,

searches how language learners deal with anxiety which is highly existing in oral ESP

classroom .Second, to investigate the factors that cause learners’ language English speaking

anxiety, and what is the impact of it on their performance, as well as, their achievement.

Third, to discover what are the appropriate strategies that teachers and learners can follow

to reduce their language anxiety.

Question 2: Restore punctuation in the following passage (2pts)

Question 3: Identify and correct two faulty parallelism and one dangling modifier in the
following passage.(3pts)

John slammed the door and strode out. He did not only feel betrayed, but also despair. Once
again, he was alone, with no money , and jobless. Wallking slowly along the street, a pub was
perceived.

Question 4: Write a classification paragraph on the three types of parenting; use the
notes below (6pts)
Family counselors divide parenting styles into three categories: authoritarian (a parents-know-
best approach that emphasizes obedience); permissive (which provides few behavioral
guidelines because parents don't want to upset their children); and authoritative (which blends
a caring tone with structure and consistent limit-setting).

The French colonial era had great impact on Algerian culture, particularly in the areas of
language, food, and lifestyle (6pts)
