Daily Inspections
Weekly Inspections
Daily & weekly tests and inspections carried out with satisfactory results:
-Battery banks visually inspected, found in good physical condition,
-Batteries on/off load test, voltage....V.
-INM-C antennas, mountings and connections found secured.
-MF/HF whip lead from A.T.U. to antenna and stand-off insulators found secured, the supply not strained.. All
mountings and connection bolts at antennas found clean and tight.
-DSC MF/HF transmitter tested via a (coast / ship) station (ACK RQ and received ACK BQ),
-DSC VHF sets tested via a live back-to back call from one set to the other.
-Modem loop tests initiated no error codes flagged.
-INM-C performance tests, INM-C test with LES
-NAVTEX receiver’s self test program.
-E.P.I.R.B. unit visually inspected and found correctly secured and H.R.U. in good condition.
-S.A.R.T.’s found correctly secured and in good physical condition.
- Lifeboat Survival VHF sets operated on Ch’s 06,13,15,17 & 67 (on a frequency other than channel 16) and found in
good working condition.
-All printers’ self test program initiated, found in good working condition with the heads clean and sufficient paper
supplies.
-Emergency lighting found operational,
-Chronometer and clocks checked., all display the correct time,
-Proper NAVAREA/EGC and NAVTEX station set-up,
All GMDSS equipment found to be fully operational and working properly.
Monthly Inspections
Daily, weekly & monthly tests and inspections carried out with satisfactory results:
-Main power supply disconnected, audible alarms sounded and acknowledged,
-MAIN equipment remained powered-up,
-DUPLICATE equipment powered-up while at the same time MAIN equipment went-off,
-Security check of each battery and its connections .
-Battery ammeter showed discharge reading, voltage:….V..
-Battery banks visually inspected, found in good physical condition,
-INM-C antennas’ mountings and connections found secured.
-MF/HF whip lead from A.T.U. to antenna and stand-off insulators found secured, the supply not strained. . All
mountings and connection bolts at antennas found clean and tight.
-DSC MF/HF transmitter tested via a (coast / ship) station (ACK RQ and received ACK BQ),
-DSC VHF sets tested via a live back-to back call from one set to the other.

-NAVTEX receiver’s self test program initiated.
-E.P.I.R.B. unit tested inside the Wheelhouse, visually inspected and found free from scratches or damages, correctly
secured and H.R.U. found in good condition.
-S.A.R.T.’s tested via X-Band radar for operational readiness in accordance with the manufacturer's
instructions and in line with the Company PMS ,found operational, correctly secured and in good physical
condition, no signs of damage,
- Lifeboat Survival VHF sets operated on Ch’s 06,13,15,17 & 67 (on a frequency other than channel 16) and found in
good working condition.

All GMDSS equipment switched to HIGH TX power mode, distress and safety radio equipment, as well as the
energy reserves are in efficient and proper working condition; all equipment checked and found operational prior
departure from……
(The GMDSS equipment should be confirmed as operational prior to sailing. The confirmation of the
operation of the GMDSS equipment is to be entered in the GMDSS Log Book , SP.06.34)
