FAQ

Q1. When do I submit UCAS/direct applications?

We strongly encourage all applications to be placed in by January for the September intake. This will
give you sufficient time to deal with other procedures required.

Q2. Will I be guided through the application process?

UCAS briefing will be provided on Application process, Do’s & Don’t during your application. Please
do keep checking your LMS on briefing dates.

Q3. What do I do once I have submitted an application via UCAS/direct applications?

UCAS application can be tracked via your UCAS account.


Direct application, offer letters will be sent via email. So please keep track of your emails, Inbox &
SPAM emails.

Q4. Do I need to pay for UCAS application?

YES. Approximately £26.

Q5. Do I pay for direct applications?

NO. Direct applications do not require payments.

Q6. How many universities can I apply to via UCAS?

Minimum 1 and maximum 5.

Q7. How many universities can I apply to using direct application?


Please note there are no limited numbers of Universities you can apply to. However, please be
cautious on methods of application by each University. Do check with respective Universities on
method of application. It will be your responsibility to keep track of the offer letters from each of the
Universities.

Q8. What English qualifications are accepted by UK Universities?

You must have one of these English qualifications – GCE O-Levels (1119), IGCSE (1st or 2nd language),
IELTS, Pearsons PTE. Kindly refer to factsheet for required grades.

Q10. Which IELTS should I take?

Please take the IELTS ACADEMIC test.

Q11. Where can I take the Pearson English Test (PTE)?

Q12. When do I book accommodation?

Once you submit applications and receive conditional offers, the accommodation office will contact
you via email to reserve a room. You will be given a deadline by which you will need to make the
deposit payment.

Q13. When do I make firm and insurance choices on UCAS?

Once you have received ALL your offers, you will be given a deadline to accept the offers.
Be sure to follow the deadline to accept the offers on UCAS Track

Q14. When do I pay the tuition fee? *

Universities will provide students with the information on the tuition fee payment methods, deadline,
and amount. Certain Universities will require a deposit in order for the CAS (Confirmation on
Acceptance of Studies) to be issued. Most of the information can be found in the respective
Universities offer letter.

Q15. When do I apply for visa? *

Visa application is done upon receiving the CAS. A visa briefing will be done in July/August with latest
information from the UK Border Agency.

Q16. How much does visa cost?

Visa can cost RM 4000 to RM 5000 depending the duration of your studies.

Q17. Do I need to show financial evidence for visa application?

Malaysia is under the low risk category. Not all students will be required to show financial evidence.
However, students may be randomly picked to show financial evidence. All students are advised to
have sufficient cash ( tuition fee + living cost or approximately RM 160,000) in a bank account one
month prior to visa application. More information will be provided during the visa briefing.
Q17. Should I renew my passport?

Your passport validity should cover the period of your study in the UK. You should not use an expired
or a passport which is due to expire for official purposes.

Q18. When should I renew my passport?

Please renew by or before March. Take along a copy of an offer letter from any university. Raise a
ticket in CMS under Confirmation Letter for passport renewal. These documents are compulsory to
entitle you to a student discount (only for students below 21 years of age). Passport renewal may
cost about RM 100- RM200.

Q20. What documents should I have for UCAS application?

You will need to enter your SPM, 1119 English, pre-u (and LLB first year for 3rd year entry) results. No
uploading of documents in UCAS. Passport detail is optional.

Q22. If some universities do not respond on UCAS, can I apply directly?

You should only submit one application for each university.

Q23. Can I change the choice of universities on UCAS after submission?

You may swap university choices within 14 days of receiving welcome emails from the universities.
However you are advised to make informed decision about your university choices prior to
submission.
