Year 7 had a fabulous time on their first high school camp with Mr Hawken, Mr
Kilgannon, Mrs Hawksworth and Miss John
On Wednesday 23rd February we were introduced to the beautiful space by
going on a bush walk, where students got to hand pick juicy and plump
blackberries straight from the vine. We finished the day with games of cricket,
volleyball and bull rush.
Thursday brought many exciting activities for our Year 7 students, including;
The Amazing Race: students had limited time to use their critical thinking
and practical skills to locate items and answer tricky questions.
Bush Art: students were introduced to the exciting and artistic side of
nature, using flowers and branches to create a unique piece of art.
Confidence Course: Students were given the challenge of leading each
other through the grounds of Laurel Hill and an obstacle, but there was a
catch, they were blindfolded! The aim was to take turns leading each other,
developing trust, listening and most of all building confidence.
Pioneering: In teams, students engineered a propulsion machine under
time constraints using minimal supplies. Groups were then given a tennis
ball and students got to check whose tennis ball could fly the furthest.
Friday was our last day of camp, but we couldn’t leave without a whole group
soccer competition to finish off a fantastic and fun few days.
Thanks for a great camp year 7!
Miss John
