iSD Design Guidelines

Following representations and explanations are schematic and exemplary only! The document explains
different processes and considerations for the design and the operation of inge ® UF-racks in general.
Depending on project specific requirements, the actual inge® recommendation can vary from the schematic
illustration in this document. This document cannot replace a detailed control philosophy plan. Please contact
isd-support@inge.ag for further support.

1. Backwash process
BW Net time = iSD output
Pause and valve swapping times can be defined in the iSD and will impact overall downtime for each rack.
Waste water amount during ramping is considered with a factor of 0.3 in the total waste water calculation.
Chemical injection and rinsing water volumes during CEB (Chemical Enhanced Backwash) are calculated accordingly.

2. Definition of number of racks (“n”), redundancy and racks in filtration mode

 n: Number of Racks installed for operation (recovery, chemical consumption and waste water amount is based on n
racks)

 n-x: Minimum Number of Racks in filtration at any moment (gross flux is based on n-x racks in constant flow mode)

 n+x: Number of Racks installed for operation + installed spare for CIP, maintenance, I-test, etc.; “+x” shows redundancy
or racks in maintenance, not to be considered for the automatic operation.
