SECTION 6 ERROR MESSAGES
In this section, error monitoring method and error recovery method on XS series are discribed.

6.1 XS Action for Error

In XS series, error messages are displayed or notified as below.
(1) According to the error type, “Hard Error”, “Analysis Error”, “Caution” or “Maintenance” is shown on
IPU status display area with red color background.
(2) “Help Dialog Box” window is displayed on IPU.
See (3) – (6) for details of “Help Dialog Box”.
(3) All errors occuring at the moment are displayed in “Error List” area on “Help Dialog Box” window.
(Errors are put in order of priority, and the error of highest priority becomes active.)
(4) Messages (Action Message:) are displayed to provide users with necessary information to recover
from errors in “Action” area on “Help Dialog Box” window.
(5) Active error in Error List Section can be selected by clicking. Either "OK" or "Excecute" button is
assigned for each error and is related to corresponding action.
(6) “Alarm” sounds to notify the error status based on the rule of each error. To stop the alarm sound,
click “Alarm Stop” button on “Help Dialog Box” window.

Figure 6-1 Help Dialog Box

XS Series S/M 6-1 November 2013

6.2 Action for Error Recovery
(1) How to reset error varies according to respective errors. The methods to recover from “NOT
READY” staus are classified as following 3 groups.
1) Only click “Accept” button to reset errors.
2) Wait unitl monitoring sensor status returns to the normal range.
(cannot be reset by “Accept” or “Execute”.)
3) Run specific service sequences to verify again.
(It recovers to READY status if error check passed in the service sequence.)

NOTE:
1. Descripition of analysis mode in this section
In XS series, there are 2 analysis modes “Manual Mode” and “Sampler
Mode” (XS-1000i). “Capillary Mode” is based on “Manual Mode” and
“Closed Mode” is based on “Sampler Mode”, except where specifically
noted.
2. When error occurs in XS series, each categorized error name is shown
on IPU status display area to prompt users to operate settings or
perform maintenance. XS series error is classified under following
groups (these errors are not described in this section in particular).
(1)“Hard Error” Error originated in monitoring result of device
(hard ware) operation status.
(2) “Analysis Error” Error originated in analyisis result or measuring
result of analysis data.
(3) ”Caution” Error to provide users with setting operataion
related to analysis operation. In XS series, QC set-
ting operation is mainly included.
(4) ”Maintenance” Error to promt useres to perform maintenance.

6.3 Error Message
Details of each Error Message on XS series are described as below.

6.3.1 Pressure Error

Figure 6-2 Pressure Sensor

XS Series S/M 6-3 November 2013

6.3.1.1 Pressure Lower Error
Description: The value of pressure or vacuum of air pump becomes abnormally low after
power ON.
Purpose: Verify the operation of sample draining, piercer rinsing, DP, etc.
Method: Run Start-up sequence and specified sequence in error recovery process to
check the pressure in each status.
Condition: The following test operations are performed only in the start-up sequence.
First, both of the maximum pressure output and the maximum vacuum output of
the air pump are measured respectively as follows.
(1) Measurements of maximum pneumatic outputs
1) The maximum pressure output is measured by closing all the pressure
port SVs (SV19, SV23, and SV29) while vacuum port state is open air,
and the A/D converted ressure value is set as the variable, PMAX.
2) The maximum vacuum output is measured by closing all the vacuum
port SVs (SV20, SV24, and SV30) while pressure port state is open air,
and the A/D converted vacuum value is set as the variable, VMAX.
(2) Measurements of pneumatic outputs with closed pneumatic ports
And then, both of pressure and vacuum are measured while all the relating SVs
(SV19, SV20, SV23, SV24, SV29, SV30) are closed and set as the variables
PCL and VCL respectively.
System generates error, when either of following two conditions is satisfied;
(1) PCL < PMAX * 0.85
(2) VCL < VMAX * 0.85
