II. INFORMATION ABOUT THE COURSE
Course Title Logistics Management
Course Code Adm 3
Course Credit Three (3) Units

Course Description:
The course is designed to provide the cadets of PNPA with the vital skills
needed to proficiently oversee logistics operations, paying special attention to
the context of the Philippine National Police (PNP). The intent is to strengthen
the cadets' adeptness in managing logistics.

Five primary objectives anchor the course: gaining a firm grasp of the underlying
concepts and terminologies, acquiring insight into the legal and ethical
dimensions, honing analytical and critical thinking abilities, cultivating a spirit of
teamwork, and acquiring the expertise to design logistics processes. The
subjects addressed encompass supply chain management, planning and
budgeting, procurement, warehousing, distribution, distribution and control,
maintenance and quality monitoring, disposal, risk aversion, human capital, and
the incorporation of technology.

Cadets will be dynamically involved through discussions, case studies,

simulations, team tasks, and hands-on exercises that nurture critical thinking and
cooperative skills. A noteworthy highlight of the course is an educative excursion
to multiple logistics centers for on-ground experience.

Evaluations are premised on involvement, task submissions, hands-on

exercises, and case study scrutinization.

This course adopts an approach that is cadet-centered, employs rational

language, and promotes spirited participation. It stands as an invaluable pathway
for those poised to make a meaningful contribution to streamlined and principled
logistics operations within the PNP and beyond.

Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILO):

At the end of the course, the cadets will be able to:

Knowledge
1. Learn about the key components and functions of logistics, including inventory
management, procurement, warehousing, transportation, and supply chain
management. They will gain a comprehensive understanding of how these
elements work together to support effective logistics operations;
2. Learn how logistics management plays a crucial role in supporting PNP
operations, ensuring the availability of resources, and facilitating efficient and
effective service delivery; and
3. Develop the ability to make informed logistical decisions in the PNP. They will
learn about the factors and considerations involved in logistics decision-
making, such as cost, time, quality, and risk management. This knowledge will
enable them to analyze logistics-related challenges, evaluate alternative
courses of action, and make sound decisions that align with PNP objectives.

Course Syllabus in Logistics Management Page 2 of 16

Skills
1. Develop strong analytical skills through the course, enabling them to assess
complex logistical situations, identify potential issues, and propose
appropriate solutions. They will learn how to gather and analyze data,
evaluate different options, and make informed decisions to optimize logistical
operations;
2. Enhance cadets problem-solving skills by exposing them to various logistics-
related scenarios and challenges specific to the PNP. They will learn to apply
critical thinking and creative problem-solving techniques to address issues
such as resource allocation, supply chain disruptions, and inventory
management. Cadets will also develop the ability to anticipate and mitigate
potential logistical risks; and
3. Learn effective communication and collaboration skills to interact with
suppliers, internal departments, and other relevant parties. They will
understand the importance of clear and concise communication in ensuring
smooth logistical operations and building strong partnerships.

Values/ Attitudes
1. Understand how efficient logistics practices contribute to improved service
delivery, enhanced operational effectiveness, and cost optimization. They will
recognize logistics management as a critical factor in maintaining the PNP's
reputation and fulfilling its mission;
2. Consider the ethical implications of their logistical decisions, such as fairness,
transparency, and accountability. They will learn to prioritize ethical conduct
while ensuring the integrity and legality of logistics operations; and
3. Develop a mindset of adaptability and resilience, learning to anticipate and
manage logistical disruptions effectively. They will understand the importance
of flexibility and agility in addressing logistical uncertainties and maintaining
operational continuity.
