The electrical regulations in France:


aims to ensure the protection of persons and property against risks of electricity;

is based on respect for rules set by the installation standards;

generally relates to all buildings and facilities for professional use as well as collective and
individual housing.

4 decrees regulate the French Labour Code

These four decrees have introduced new articles in the Labour Code.
For example, the decree relating to work on or in the vicinity of electrical installations intro-
duces new approval standards, particularly standard NF C 18-510.
Work on or in the vicinity of electrical installations may now only be carried out by certified
persons.

NF C 18-510 standard describes a set of requirements that can guard against the risk during
operations such as work, interventions, electrical or non-electrical.
According to the decree of 2010 on operations on electrical facilities or in their proximity, the employer gives each employee
an instruction manual based on the requirements of the relevant requirements of these standards, complemented, where
appropriate, with specific work safety instructions.
