NARRATIVE REPORT

Today is the annual celebration of Philippines Independence Day 2023! This national holiday
commemorates the freedom of the Philippines and its people. On this day in 1898, Filipino leader Emilio
Aguinaldo declared independence from Spain after more than 300 years of rule.

After a long but necessary fight for independence, Aguinaldo and 98 other Filipino officials
signed the 21-page Acta de la Proclamacion de la Independencia del Pueblo Filipino in Cavite. Moments
later, the Philippines national flag was unfurled and raised for the first time in history.

On Independence Day, Filipinos gather with loved ones and enjoy a day off from work and
school. In Manila and Cavite, major ceremonies are held to commemorate the occasion. These
observances include a 21-gun salute, public speeches from government officials, and parades with
colorful floats decorated with the blue, white, red, and yellow national flag.

After the flag raising ceremony, we started the program by the opening remarks of our Teacher’s
club President, Ma’am Grace C. Rivero, followed by the messages of out PTA President Mrs. Norma C.
Cabontocan, Kagawad In-Charged of Education, Engr. Eugene B. Cabanayan. Kyle M. Dela Cruz, a
Grade 1 pupil under the advisory of Ms. Sheryl Joy D. Liquiran, serenade us by singing an OPM Song
entitled “Mapa”. Our Barangay Captain Immanuel B. Salvador also joined us in celebrating Independence
Day, he also gave an inspiring message. The Cabamongan Sisters, Shiela Cabamongan and Saejin
Cabamongan impressed us by singing an OPM Song entitled “Isang Lahi”.

We also had a search for Best in Modern Filipiniana, Best in Barong Tagalog, Best in Maria
Clara, Dr. Jose Rizal look alike, Andres Bonifacio look alike, Quiz Bee and Guhit Bulilit. Overall, the
celebration of 125th Philippine Independence day was a success, all participants actively engaged during
the search.
