1. The lines x + 2y − 3 = 0 and 4x + 5y − 9 = 0 intersect at P. Find

(a) The coordinates of P.

(b) The equation of the line through P and parallel to the line 3x − 4y +
7 = 0.
2. Find the angle between the following pairs of lines.

(a) 2x − y = 4 and x−y =3

(b) 2x + y = 4 and y − 3x = 0
3. Compute the center and the radius of the following equations of a circle.

(a) x2 + y 2 − 10x + 6y − 162 = 0

(b) 2x2 + 2y 2 − x = 0
(c) x2 + y 2 + 2x − 4y − 11 = 0
4. Determine the equation of the circle with radius 4 and circle (-2,3).

5. Sketch the circle whose equation is x2 + 10x + y 2 − 6y = −30

6. Write the equation of the circle whose center is (-4,8) and passes through
the point (-2,-1).

7. Write the general equation of a circle that is tangent to the x-axis with
center (4,-6).

8. Show that the point (1,2 2) lies on a circle whose center is the origin and
contains the point (0,3).
