Alloc ated 5 Greetings and sharing today’s lesson objectives. 25 Get students to describe their identity in 50 words and then raising these questions: o Which categories of gender, ethnicity, race, religion, age, and so on do you think you identify with most? (Which do they put towards the front of their sentences?) o When do you think children become aware of these categories? o When do children begin to self-label and say ‘I am a girl’ or ‘I am Indonesian’? Students privately chat their description to the teacher, without mentioning their names. Teacher shares the chat and let the other friends guess whose description that is. 25 Ask students to work in pairs and do Worksheet 10.1 Exploring the concept of idiolect for a structured approach to an exercise on this topic (based on students’ use of the English language). 10 The pairs share their answers to the class and discuss how their partner’s past shape who they are now. 5 Students upload their answers to the class notebook TEAMS
