Europe, in contrast to the past when each country had its own

the legal uses of the Gas Analyser:
• Roadworthiness Test
• Emissions Control
are out of the MID scope, being handled by the “Non Legally
Relevant” part of the software;

the “Non Legally Relevant” part of the software is ruled by

national regulations and requires national approvals.

Transposition
1. Member States shall adopt and publish the laws, regulations and administrative
provisions necessary to comply with this Directive before 30 April 2006. They
shall forthwith inform the Commission thereof.

organismi nazionali notificati per espletare i compiti relativi ai moduli di
valutazione della conformita' di cui all'articolo 7.

Benefits:
• OIML R99 type approval valid in all EU countries

Limits:
• 96/96/EC S/W requires national approvals
• Applies only to Gas Analysers

Disavantages:
• Foreign notified body required
