PRACTICE INSTRUCTIONS.

Remember there are different actions you can practice.

1. Repeat

2. Say the opposite

3. Change tense

4. Say something true for you

5. Substitution

To hit the road (to start a journey or trip)

Hit the road - repeat

It’s time to hit the road - repeat

It’s 1 o’clock and time to hit the road - repeat

It’s 1 o’clock and time to hit the road - change to a past tense

You should say,


It was 1 o’clock and time to hit the road

To get away from it all (to escape the stress of life)

I love to get away from it all - repeat

I love to get away from it all by driving to the mountains - repeat

She loves to get away from it all by driving to the mountains - say the opposite

You might say,


She doesn’t love to get away from it all by driving to the mountains
She hates to get away from it all by driving to the mountains
She loves to get away from it all by walking on the beach

My sister loves to get away from it all by driving to the mountains - Say something true for you

activity

You might say,


I took advantage of the trip to go and visit family
I took advantage of the trip to catch up on some reading
I took advantage of the trip to learn a new language

I take advantage of my weekends to relax and go out with friends - Say something true for you

To get the hang of (to learn how to do something)

Get the hang of - repeat

Getting the hang of - repeat

I’m getting the hang of using my new tablet - repeat

I’m getting the hang of using my new tablet - Say the opposite

You will probably say,


I’m not getting the hang of using my new tablet
I can’t get the hang of using my new tablet

I’m getting the hang of using my new tablet - change to a future tense

You might say,


I will get the hang of using my new tablet
I’m going to get the hang of using my new tablet

I’m getting the hang of using my new tablet - what about you?

Savour the memory - repeat

I savour the memory of that holiday - repeat

I savour the memory of that holiday - substitute trip for holiday

You should say,


I savour the memory of that trip

I savour the memory of that trip - change to a future tense

You might say,


I will savour the memory of that trip
I’m going to savour the memory of that trip

I’m going to savour the memory of my last holiday - What about you?
