Dr. A. P. J.

Abdul Kalam was a renowned scientist who became the 11th president of India for 2002-
2007. He is well-known to us for fighting against all odds that came in his path during struggle period. He
is the brightest example to us who achieved success for his enormous skills and talents. Dr. Abdul Kalam
was born in a Tamil Muslim family, his father was a boat owner and mother was a housewife. He hailed
from a poor family background so he had to start working at an early age. He distributed newspapers to
be supplement in family income for meeting the living needs. He was a hardworking student and had
great interest in mathematics. He worked hard for his project to submit within deadline and impressed
the college dean which gave him scholarship. Later he joined aeronautical development establishment
of defence research and development organisation as a scientist and became the head of that
organisation. He spread the stream of vast knowledge over children and young students to motivate
them for reaching their goals. He proved that knowledge is the greatest weapon against all odds and
there is nothing shortcut of hard work and dedication. Dr. Abdul Kalam write his autobiography and
many other books like wings of fire, ignited minds, learning how to fly, India 2020 etc. are some popular
