SCHEDULE

01 SET UP YOUR TEACHER WORKSTATION

We start by creating your teacher dashboard, so to
speak! You will get your own supplies organized so that
you have a home base from which to tackle everything
else. We will talk about:
the essential teacher supplies you should have on
hand and how to store them for access without
adding visual clutter to the room
how to set up a paper management system so you
can easily locate the resources you need
an overview of classroom storage systems

02 CREATE AN ASSISTANT TRAINING PLAN

Working with other adults is an integral part of a lead
teacher's job... and one that many struggle with! This
section of the course will help you pull together
resources to create a training plan for your assistant.
You will make an outline for what you should cover in an
assistant training and you will create an assistant
handbook. We also have a guest lecture from Tammy
Oesting of Classroomechanics on how to work with your
assistant.

03 PLAN YOUR ROUTINES AND PROCEDURES

You will set aside time today to carefully think about all
your classroom routines and procedures. How exactly
will you handle all the different transitions? How will you
handle different situations that come up during the
course of the day? You will think about not just the
routines for the children, but routines for the adults as
well. How will you manage your day? This section
includes some fairly detailed downloads to help you
clarify your routines and plot them out.

04 CREATE A PARENT RELATIONS PLAN

This is an area of classroom management that often falls
through the cracks. Having a systematic way to
proactively build relationships with the families of your
students will make a huge difference in heading off
potential problems in the future. This section will help
you create a daily-weekly-monthly-annual
communications plan. Handouts include templates for
newsletters, parent events, and more.

05 DESIGN YOUR SHELF MAPS

This section of the course will help you create a plan for
arranging the materials on your shelves. You will dig
through your albums, analyze the sequence of
presentations and create a logical plan for placing the
materials on your shelves. This will help ensure that you
don't have areas that are over-represented or under-
represented in your room! It will help you get rid of
extraneous materials that may have crept onto your
shelves over the years and will bring you back into
alignment with your training. This is also one of the most
useful exercises to do ahead of time if you only have a
limited amount of actual prep time in the classroom.

06 DESIGN YOUR FLOOR PLAN

Today you will figure out how to arrange your furniture
for optimal classroom functioning. This is particularly
useful for those who are setting up a new environment
and don't know where to begin!

07 SET UP YOUR RECORD KEEPING

A big topic! We will talk about why you need to keep
records and what kinds of records you may want to
keep. We will cover a variety of ways you may want to set
up record keeping for your specific needs. Downloads
include a number of different blank record keeping
forms and guest presentations from Transparent
Classroom and MRX.

08 THE CULTURAL AREA

The materials for the "cultural" area or "cosmic
curriculum" tend to be the most unwieldy and
disorganized in many classrooms! We will talk about how
to store and organize these materials for efficiency and
easy access. I will give you a tour of one possible way to
set up your cultural materials. You will spend the day
setting up your Cultural storage and shelves.

09 THE PRACTICAL LIFE AREA

We will start by discussing how to store your practical
life supplies and then work on setting up your practical
life shelves. Virginia Lozuke from the Montessori Farm
School is our guest presenter for this section. Her
detailed tour of her Practical Life shelves will give you
tons of inspiration for your own environment. We will
also have a tour of an art area and show you how to set
up simple food prep work.

10 THE SENSORIAL AREA

We will talk about how to set up your Sensorial area and
you will spend the day setting up your shelves and
storage. You'll also learn how to set up an introductory
music shelf in your environment! This is a guest
presentation from Carolyn Lucento. (We do not talk
about the bells.)

11 THE MATH AREA

We will talk about how to set up your Math area and you
will spend the day setting up your math shelves and
storage.

12 THE LANGUAGE AREA

Many educators face challenges when establishing a
cohesive language sequence. In this section, you'll get an
in-depth look at the contents and organization of my
language shelves. There are multiple videos today! You
will spend the day setting up your own shelves and
storage.

13 ROTATIONS PLAN

for rotating materials on your shelves throughout the
year.

14 FILL IN THE GAPS

This day is set aside for you to hunt down any materials
and resources that may be missing from your
environment. You will locate and download printables
and place any necessary orders.

15 DESIGN FEATURES AND FINAL LAYOUT

Once you have your underlying systems solidly in place,
you can focus on adding a layer of beauty to your
environment. Today is an exciting day to add decorative
elements while maintaining balance. We'll discuss the
best practices for achieving an inviting yet functional
space.

16 PREPARE FOR NEW STUDENTS

Ensure you've considered every aspect of welcoming
new students into your community. Have you prepared
all the necessary forms? Have you incorporated their
names into the environment? Today is the day to make
sure that all the actual little people who will be joining
your community have a place in your space.

17 PLAN FOR THE FIRST WEEKS OF SCHOOL

Outline a detailed, hour-by-hour plan for the initial days
of school, taking into account your orientation process
for new students. Consider the materials on the shelf,
grace and courtesy lessons, and strategies for
acclimating new students to the environment and
community.

18 VOLUNTEER WORK DAYS

Set aside a day when parents/friends can help you tackle
any big tasks that still need to be taken care of. This
section will help you prepare for a successful volunteer
work day.

19 FINAL TOUCHES
Complete any lingering tasks and take time to slow
down. Watch a guest presentation by Andy Lulka to
reconnect with your motivation for this work. Realign
with your purpose and prepare emotionally to engage
with your new community of students.

20 MAINTENANCE
Today, we will delve into the crucial aspect of
maintaining your well-organized and efficient classroom
environment throughout the year. By establishing a
solid maintenance plan, you'll ensure that both you and
your students can continue to thrive in a harmonious
and supportive atmosphere.

21 CLOSE
This is the official "last day" of the course. But
remember, this course comes with lifetime access so you
can continue to work through the modules at your own
pace. Bootcamp alumni can join all future sessions of the
course at no charge. This is a day to catch up on the
bonus content if needed.

Questions FAQS
Q. Is this Bootcamp suitable for support staff or assistant teachers?
The content of the Bootcamp aligns with the job descriptions for lead teachers. Most
support staff will not have the authority to create or implement the majority of the
suggestions from the course. They will also mostly likely not have the detailed
Montessori training needed to complete the lessons in module 2. Similarly, the course
is not recommended for homeschoolers as it does not address the needs of a home
setting.

Q. Is this Bootcamp suitable for a teacher who will be leading a 3-6

Montessori classroom but has not yet begun training?
Yes. You may not be able to complete all the assignments yet, but you will benefit
tremendously from the shelf setup and classroom arrangement guidance which will
help you understand how a Montessori prepared environment works. You will also
learn a lot about how to manage the first weeks of school to set the stage for
normalization.

Q. Is this Bootcamp suitable for someone with many years of

experience leading a classroom?
Yes! Hundreds of Montessorians with decades of experience have taken the 3-6
Bootcamp... and many of them come back and join us year after year. They find the
structure very motivating. They get excited about revamping procedures that may
have gotten stale and feel ready to start the school year with renewed energy.
