This course introduces students to the unifying theme of the listening exercises,
with the background of the previous courses and the vocabulary given, It provides
students with tools for the understanding each listening selection, it helps students
to listen for main ideas and listen for details to comprehend activities and make
inferences to move beyond the literal meaning, exercise critical thinking skills, and
understand the listening on a more academic level, also it continues leading
students to learn useful structures for speaking in the grammar contents, because
it continues including sections on vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, functional
language, and extended speaking tasks that give students an opportunity to
exchange ideas and express opinions in sustained speaking contexts related to
internet and other addictions, lying, personality, trends, culture, religion and
business.
According to the curriculum 2016, of the System Engineering, the course English
Integrated Skills V Listening and Speaking is located in the seventh quarterly of
the curriculum and it is prerequisite of the course Mastering English
Pronunciation.
The number of hours to develop this course is 64 hours and the number of credits
is 4.
V. ESTRATEGIAS METODOLÓGICAS
The following strategies will be taking into account in order to carry out this course:
a. Take into consideration the students’ needs to the extent that their
motivation is the engine that drives learning.
b. Use interactive activities looking for meaningful interaction.
c. Take into account the contexts in which the students interact and their
own experiences when teaching.
d. Understand that through errors the students also can learn.
e. Apply techniques for individual and group work.
f. Encourage students to be self-taught.
