Parents vs. Teenagers
My question for today is: Why do parents punish teenagers when it’s inevitable that we’re going
to act out? I may never understand this. Maybe it’s just the way parents are wired, but sooner or
later they must know that we are going to do stupid things. We’re not perfect, but they sure
weren’t when they were our age. We teenagers want to have fun,  party , and do dumb things, but
55 most of these “dumb things” have consequences. I personally have never gone to a party, and
honestly, I wouldn’t even like too. My boyfriend invited me to a party this year and I got cold
sweats just thinking about it, well, that is until he told me it was just an innocent birthday party
for one of our fellow band geeks. I still didn’t go. I shall take no chances. There are certain
things that teenagers do before it reaches the point of no return. Like if you wake up Sunday
10 morning and go to church with a hangover…The most interesting things about the variety of
parents aren’t the punishments they give, but the kinds of people who give the worst ones. My
friend’s dad is VERY strict but his parenting techniques are off. I’m not judging, and I’m
definitely not saying how he raises his children is wrong, but…

She could go out and party and get off with a warning, but Lord have mercy if she gets a B in
15 one class, no phone for a year. Honestly, I think the religious parents should leave the
punishment to God and let him take care of it. Hey, that would scare any frequent church going
kid. My parents believe in God and enforce his rules, but instead of the Holy Threats, I get an
unholy punishment. If my grades are bad, I get a warning, but if I lie, I might as well just break
my phone over my knee, because I won’t have one for at least 6 months. Okay, little harsh, over
20 exaggerated too. I love my mom, but you never know how afraid of someone that’s a foot shorter
than you until they’re you’re mom. She usually lets me do what I want, to an extent.

P.S. I hope this post didn’t offend anyone. This is just my opinion.
