BALLERINA - REACTION PAPER (Physical Education)

The film follows an orphaned child who aspires to be a great ballerina. It tells
the story of Felicie Lebraz, a feisty 11-year-old girl who strives to be a dancer.
Together, she and his best friend Victor, who wants to be a great inventor, escaped the
orphanage and embarked on a quest to achieve their own goals and set off to Paris. In
Paris, they parted together and Felicie befriends Odette, who is the cleaner and
caretaker of the Grand Opera Ballet. She helped her clean the place and found Camille
Le Haut, a demanding and selfish spoiled rich girl who is neglected and pressured by
her mother Regine Le Haut, to dance and get the part as ‘Clara’ for the Nutcracker.
Felicie, then stole her identity and manages to bluff her way into ballet class, where all
the girls are auditioning for a part in the Nutcracker and each day one girl is
eliminated from the group. Odette helped her trained, be a superb dancer and her ask
if it was really her dream to dance. She got better every single day and met Rudolph.
Her true identity was revealed but Louis Merante, the ballet master choreographer,
told her to stay in audition since he saw her dedication and worked really hard. The
day on the last audition, Felicie was late and was not in her right track to dance, she
then got eliminated and was sent back to the orphanage. She dreamt about her
mother, and was seen dancing by the guard, with the help of the guard, she came
back to Paris and said sorry to Odette and Victor. She comes up a battle against
Camille, pouring all her strength and passion. They were both ask by Louis, ‘why do
they dance’, and Felicie told them that dancing allows her to live, to be herself, she
answered it wholeheartedly, that made her got the part of Clara. Regine goes nuts and
tries to kill Felicie and Victor, but they evade her and make it to the school in time for
Felicie's performance.

I believe the film focuses more on the devotion and enthusiasm of the dancers
than with their life outside of the school or the ballet company. I've learnt a lot of
things like to 'never give up on your dreams’, Felicie utilized her strength in the hopes
of achieving her ambitions. I've also learnt that 'passion is the key,' passion is the fuel
that motivates and inspires individuals toward specific goals, no matter how tough or
difficult they may be. Overall, it's a great film for families with an interest in the arts.
