Audio Script
Narrator: Unit 1, Listening Exercise 5.
Miss Lee and the children are talking about the preparation work for Museum Day.
Listen to what they say. The recording will be played two times.
When you hear a beep (beep), fill in the blank or blanks. You now have 20 seconds
to study the notes. (20-second music)
The recording will begin now.

[Miss Lee: Museum Day is next Friday. We’ll turn this classroom into a little art museum to
display your artworks. Are you excited?
Children: Yay!
Miss Lee: It’s time to think about how we can prepare for it. We’ll decorate the classroom and
set up stalls to show your paintings and handicrafts. Who can help with that?
Henry: I can do that.
Miss Lee: Thank you, Henry. I don’t think you can do all the decorations by yourself. What
about asking five more friends to help?
Henry: OK.
Miss Lee: So you’ll be the decoration leader. Your team can start decorating the classroom next
Wednesday. (beep) (12-second pause)

Miss Lee: Now, let’s think about what we can do for our visitors.
Sally: How about giving them guided tours?
Miss Lee: Good idea, Sally. We can show them around our little museum and tell them about
the artworks.
Sally: Mary and I would like to be the tour guides.
Miss Lee: Thank you. Let me write that down. ... Sally and Mary ... will prepare for the guided
tours. (beep) (12-second pause)

Sally: Miss Lee, shall we put up posters to tell people about our museum?

Miss Lee: Sure. Putting up posters can help attract schoolmates and teachers to come to our
museum. Gary, you’re good at drawing. Can you help us design a poster?
Gary: Yes, of course. When do I need to finish the design?
Miss Lee: What about next Monday?
Gary: It’s too rushed. Maybe on Tuesday?
Miss Lee: Sounds good. I’ll make copies of the poster. Then, we can put them up next
Thursday. Who can help with that? Please put up your hands.
Miss Lee: Let me write that down ... Peter, Tom and Lucy. Brilliant. (beep) (25-second pause)

Miss Lee: We also need to prepare some souvenirs for the visitors. Any ideas?
Sally: We used bottle caps to make a mosaic and the visitors will see it in our museum.
How about giving out bottle caps so that people can remember our mosaic?
Henry: I like the idea. What about decorating the bottle caps and turning them into badges?
Miss Lee: Bottle cap badges would be great souvenirs. Right, each one of you, please bring two
bottle caps next Monday. We’ll make the souvenirs together. (beep) (25-second
pause)]

Narrator: Listen to the recording again.
