Narrator: Unit 1, Listening Exercise 4.
Miss Tang is talking to her class about the upcoming Arts Week. Listen to what
they say. The recording will be played two times.
When you hear a beep (beep), fill in the blank. You now have 20 seconds to study
the poster. (20-second music)
The recording will begin now.

[Miss Tang: Arts Week is from the third to the seventh of November. We want students to learn
more about the arts, such as acting, painting, dancing and music. Can you suggest
some activities for Arts Week? (beep) (12-second pause)

Leo: I have an idea, Miss Tang. How about putting up some information boards in the
playground or giving guided tours?
Kitty: That sounds great, Leo. We can put the art forms in order, from the oldest to the
newest, so it’ll be like walking through time.
Miss Tang: That’s a great idea! Can you design the information boards together, Leo and Kitty?
Leo and Kitty: OK. (beep) (12-second pause)

Miss Tang: Does anyone want to give guided tours to our students? You’ll need to introduce
the art forms to the visitors when you show them the information boards.
Harry: I want to try, Miss Tang.
Miss Tang: That’s great, Harry. (beep) (12-second pause)

Harry: What time will the guided tours start?

Kitty: Let’s start at twelve thirty. Students can come during lunchtime.
Miss Tang: How about starting at twelve fifty? I think students need more time to have lunch.
Kitty: Oh, that’s right. (beep) (12-second pause)

Miss Tang: Do you have any other suggestions for Arts Week?
Kitty: Let’s perform some plays.
Miss Tang: That’s a great idea! We can perform two plays. How long do you want them to be?
Harry: What about making each of them ten minutes long?
Kitty: That’s too short. How about making each of them twenty-five minutes long? We
can perform them after school.
Miss Tang: That sounds good. (beep) (12-second pause)

Miss Tang: Let’s put up some posters to inform students about Arts Week. Who is good at
drawing?
Mandy: I can draw well, Miss Tang. I’ll draw the posters this week.
Miss Tang: Thank you, Mandy. (beep) (12-second pause)]

Narrator: Listen to the recording again.
