1.) Paulo C. Campos Radiation therapy -Campos was the

driving force behind establishing the
country's first radioisotope
laboratory. Then in 1960, the
government was able to undertake
the basal metabolism test and
radioactive iodine treatment Goiter
research for the first time in the
country. He pursued being scientist to
help and study further the radiation
therapy which the people need.

2.) Rolando De La A skin cream containing anti-cancer

Cruz ingredients, including cashew nuts

Banzon create an alternative and renewable
source of chemicals and fuel. He
studied sugarcane and coconuts to
manufacture ethyl ester fuels and
developed a chemical process for
obtaining residual coconut oil.

4.) Eduardo Quisumbing Quisumbing's taxonomic and

morphological works, such as
"Medicinal plants in the Philippines,"
deal with orchids. In November 1961,
he stepped down as Director and
went on to work at Araneta University
for a few years. Meanwhile, he rebuilt
the Herbarium, which was devastated
during the war.

continuous-flow alcohol fermentation
and a method of yeast synthesis from
cellulosic and starchy materials from

discarded coconut water.

6.) Rodolfo Q. Aquino

For the International Rice Research
Institute, IRI researchers identified
nine distinct rice varieties. As a result
of his findings, much of Asia was
spared starvation, and Thailand and
Vietnam rose to the position of global
leaders in rice production.

7.) Alexis Belonio In addition to being a professor, Alexis

T. Belonio is an engineer, scientist,
innovator, and inventor. For
developing a low-cost rice husk stove
that is also beneficial to the
environment, he was the first Filipino
to win the Rolex Award for
Entrepreneurship.

8.) María Orosa Many of the interned in Japanese-run

camps had their lives saved by the
Soyalac and Darak (rice cookies filled
with vitamin B-1 that might also
prevent beriberi sickness) that she
produced while experimenting with
traditional Philippine cuisine during
World War II.

9.) Abelardo Aguilar Erythromycin was discovered in 1949

by this scientist. Dr. Abelardo
identified microorganisms while
studying soil samples from his garden
in Iloilo, Philippines, which led to
finding Erythromycin, an antibiotic.

Although his discovery saved millions

of lives worldwide, it wasn't widely
acknowledged.

10.)Arturo P. Alcaraz As a volcanologist and geothermal

energy developer, Dr. Arturo Alcaraz is
an expert. In 1967, Arturo Alcaraz and
his colleagues used steam-powered
energy to turn on an electric light
bulb. The village of Tiwi gets its power
from a nearby volcano. Geothermal
electricity was created for the first
time in the Philippines with this
project.

11.)Angel C. Alcala He is the 1992 Ramon Magsaysay

Awardee for her invention of artificial
coral reefs, which contributed to the
fisheries in Southeast Asia. His work
focuses on promoting biodiversity in
the aquatic ecosystems of the
Philippines.

12.)Benjamin Almeda Sr. He has invented food processors such

as rice grinder, meat grinder, coconut
grinder, ice shaver, waffle cooker,
barbecue cooker, and portable
toaster. These helped improve the
food industry by making food
processing more convenient.

13.) Luz Oliveros Belardo A chemist who researched about the

phytochemical properties of plants in
the Philippines. He also researched
about effectiveness of herbal
medicines used by quack doctors.
14.) Benjamin Cabrera He conducted a study on filariasis,
learning about the life cycle and
epidemiology of tropical parasites. He
then devised drug treatments and
preventive measures so the people
will be safe and free of mosquitoes
that spreads parasitic diseases.

15.) Ramon C. Barba He is a Filipino inventor and

horticulturist who found a way to
induce more flowers in mango trees
using ethereal and potassium nitrate.
He also researched about other
various tropical crops.
SIDDHARTHA LOUISE ABABON NSCS101

His works focused on the properties of

starch and protein in relation to rice
grain quality.

16.) Bienvenido O. Juliano

He was among the first to look at the
problem of mercury in the
environment and designed an
equipment to analyze mercury in
water, fish and soil. He also studied
about radioactive bromine.
17.)Amando F. Kapaunan

Quisumbing by The Parker Pen Company in US
since during that time, it was unable
difficult to sell in the Philippines under
the Japanese Reparations Program.

19.) Dolores A. Ramirez She is recognized for her research in

biochemical genetics and
cytogenetics. Her research includes
the research of endosperms of
coconuts, rice hybrids and wild related
species, and chemical resistance
factors in Cercospora kex leaf spots.

20.) Aisa Mijeno She along with her brother invented

the SALt Lamp (Sustainable
Alternative Lighting). This eco friendly
lamp runs on saltwater, making it
