It gives me great pleasure to speak about the potential of Mr.

Aravind Katla for his graduate

studies at your esteemed University. During years of my teaching experience I have come
across a wide spectrum of students. Considering all his personal qualities, I would place his
among the top 10% of all the students that I have taught till date. My acquaintance with him,
spread over his time at NIT Rourkela, has given me an opportunity to observe him closely
and judge his capabilities.

He opted for my courses on Mining Development, Mining Machinery and Mine Machinery
Sessional Course throughout his bachelor’s time. Besides being a scrupulous and endowed
student with divergent knowledge in fundamentals, he has a canny ability to put his
knowledge to execution whenever opportunity turns up. I noticed this when he took a product
development sessional course where he came up with an idea to collaborate with electronics
department to develop a digital pillar monitor cum swelling indicator, which would alert
engineers about the impending adversities when underground mining pillars swell and yield
to the pressure. This shows his resourcefulness and genius when it comes to putting his
knowledge to use. He didn’t succumb even when he was handicapped with limited
knowledge in building that apparatus, he networked and came up with ways to achieve the
greater idea.

Apart from his academics, Aravind was also a member of the Student Activity Centre and
worked as a Coordinator. He also managed the logistics and accommodation facilities for
1300+ students at the ‘Innovision fest’ in 2017, the largest Techno-management fest of NIT
Rourkela. He managed all his responsibilities, smoothly. He has an outstanding calibre both
in terms of technical expertise and interpersonal qualities.

Hi ability to create and develop common objectives among team members, to reach the goal
makes him an outstanding leader like he did at the Innovision 2K17, when there was a surge
of students who showed up at our institute but we had limited capacity serving to them. Then
Aravind met with the organizers of other departments, directed resources from those teams to
attend the need of the hour and made the fest an extravaganza.

Aravind is amicable and respectful. I believe that he would be an excellent fit for your
institution with his relentless motivation and resilience. He is now interested in improving his
academic proficiency by pursuing his master’s studies. With full confidence in his abilities, I
recommend him to your University.
