Change characteristics marking

Annealing

Some metals show annealing colours when heated. The colour

depends strongly on the temperature at which they are heated.
Coloured annealing markings can be produced by the laser beam
heating the workpiece where the marking is to be made up to a
certain temperature. This creates oxide layers on the surface, the
composition of which determines the color impression.

Engraving

During engraving, the laser beam removes the material. A recess

is created in the workpiece - the engraving. Almost all materials
can be engraved. If required, coloured oxides can also be
produced, which make the marking even more prominent.

Removal

Removal means the partial removal of cover layers which are

applied to the base material and which differ greatly in colour.
Typical materials for removal are anodised aluminium, lacquer
layers or special laser marking foils.

Discolour

To discolour plastics, the laser beam heats the surface locally.

Some materials become darker, others lighter. What exactly
happens in the workpiece depends on the composition of the
plastic. Blackening produces soot particles that make the
lettering in the light plastic appear dark.
