Certification and Accreditation
An overview
Accreditation is a vital part of our work at EBU, as it ensures that our students, candidates and graduates have
met specific standards for learning, experience and professional outcomes.

For your understanding, Accreditation is a quality assurance process that colleges, universities and education
institutions or programs undergo to confirm that they meet a strict and recognized set of service and operational
standards.

Accreditation is assessed by private, nongovernmental accrediting agencies that have been created specifically to
review education institutions and programs. These external college accreditation agencies are reviewed and
recognized by different entities relative to the geographic location of the country.

In the United States accreditation is voluntary. Colleges do not need accreditation in order to open their doors or
offer educational programs. All EBU programs are accredited by the UK accreditation agency Accreditation
Service for Certifying Bodies (ASCB).

In Europe the Lisbon Recognition Convention (LRC) is the regulatory framework for international academic
recognition in the European region. See: http://eurorecognition.eu/Manual/EAR%20HEI.pdf

EBU benchmarks QAA standards: See: https://www.qaa.ac.uk/quality-code/subject-benchmark-statements

and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) See: https://ec.europa.eu/ploteus/content/descriptors-page

The European Union and thereby the Council of Europe does not recognize any higher education institutions.
Institutional recognition is within the competence of national authorities.

The importance of accreditation will be dependent on your academic and professional goals. If you plan on
entering the private sector, accreditation will not play and important role. This is also generally the case for a
terminal degree such as a PhD or DBA where credits do not need to be transferred.

Accreditation aims to ensure accountability of schools and degree programs which boosts public trust and
confidence. When an institution or degree program is properly accredited, you are able to gauge its overall quality
without having to conduct a detailed analysis on your own.

We invite you to independently audit a course and do your own due diligence on EBU by following the above
and below links: Audit request to Admission@ebulux.lu

EBU is Accredited by ASCB

(view certificate)
The Accreditation Service for Certifying Bodies (ASCB) is an internationally renowned UK
accreditation and membership organization. It is one of the leading international accreditation
bodies in the world for schools, institutions/colleges and universities. The ASCB accreditation
regime is designed to protect the public from unethical practices by demonstrating to the public
the competence and integrity of the professional institution with whom they have chosen to
study.
The ASCB is internationally renowned for accreditation in the education community and
operates as an international agency to introduce the certification for education quality standards.
The well-defined objective of ASCB’s accreditation and membership brings independent
information to both students and education professionals.
Accreditation and membership through ASCB will help students and parents make a more
informed choice and will also help an institution/college, university, or distance education
provider demonstrate to the international student body that they are a high-quality
institution. ASCB international accreditation and membership allows students to gain a
realistic and honest picture of what an institution is really like in terms of quality, resources,
student support and ethics.

All certificated bodies, organizations and products are placed on the International Register of
Quality Assessed Organisations (IRQAO) that has a live search function, providing the user
with instant verification of the authenticity of any ASCB and other accredited certificate holder.

The International Register of Quality Assessed Organizations was established to provide a

reference to organizations that hold certification thus validating the quality of their services.

To ensure stringent quality control IRQAO only lists certificates that have been awarded by a
credible third-party assessment body.
