Describe how you can apply the knowledge and experience you will gain from your time in

Sweden in your organisation/company and/or in your home country/region.

Indonesia’s climate action continues to be highly insufficient, obstructed by National interests

that favour profit over sustainability, uninformed policies, and inadequate capacities. My prior
experiences introduced me to these failures and shed light on my duty to deliver climate
mitigation solutions through the non-governmental sector. In this context, Master-level
education in Sweden will enable me to enhance my capacity to contribute through three
channels. It will allow me to be a research fellow in Resilience Development Initiative that can
deliver consultancy projects, research, academic publications and bridge existing network of
experts with those gained in Sweden. It will also elevate my ability to contribute expertise
through current memberships in two organisations: Climate Reality Project and YOUNGO. The
competencies gained will assist me in achieving my goal to lead and enhance both organisations’
impact and climate initiatives within national and international contexts.

Indonesia’s climate action continues to be highly insufficient, obstructed by National

My prior experiences introduced me to these failures and shed light on my duty to contribute
climate mitigation solutions, especially through the non-governmental sector. In this context,
Master’s education in Sweden will enable me to enhance my capacity to contribute through three
channels. Firstly, it will allow me to be a research fellow in Resilience Development Initiative,

existing network of experts with new ones gained in Sweden. It will also elevate my contributions

Indonesia’s efforts on climate action continues to be deemed as highly insufficient. “National

interests” favoring profit often supercede concrete action on climate mitigation, policies remain
uninformed, and inadequate capacity of stakeholders remains key challenges requiring sustained
actions. My previous professional experiences had introduced me to the root causes of
environmental risks and shed light on the prospect of my role to contribute solutions on climate
mitigation, a topic that I plan to dedicate myself into for the foreseeable future. For this plan to
succeed, I place the attainment of a master’s education at the highest priority, since the
methodological and theoretical knowledge will significantly complement my current practical
understanding. By combining this advanced knowledge with new networks and career trainings
available for SI scholars,

Throughout 2021, Indonesian Disaster Management Agency reported 1,794 floods displacing
406,692 citizens. First-hand experiences of these hazards throughout my life had initially fueled
my apprehension towards environmental issues. Likewise, my professional experiences further
strengthened my will. Involvements in research, consultancies, and programme management had
provided me the means to discern the root causes of environmental risks and act upon possible
solutions, particularly through climate mitigation efforts.

The attainment of a master-level education will further elevate my capacity to contribute

Despite these facts,

My professional experiences and continued participation in civil society organisations have

Climate-induced hydrometeorological disasters have remained rampant in Indonesia. Throughout

2021, the Indonesian Disaster Management Agency reported 1,794 floods that have affected 4.2
million citizens and displaced 406,692. Being an observer of the impact of these hazards
throughout my life, I understood that these numbers represent people’s lives and their
livelihoods. Witnessing these sufferings since an early age had fueled my ambition to be an
influence for long-term positive change. Despite these data, Indonesia’s efforts to mitigate
climate change and prioritise sustainability-oriented development persist to be insufficient.
