V. RATIONALE

Electricity has been essential to our daily lives, from doing everything to the point that it's
almost impossible to live without it. With the rapidly increasing and intensifying climate-related
issues–majority of which are caused by fossil fuel burning, humanity now requires alternatives for
energy production. So, in the depths of new technologies, ways to harness energy from nature have
been easier but impose a great threat, most especially, to Mother Earth. An example of such a threat is
the burning of fossil fuels which affects the ozone layer or the atmosphere; when fossil fuels are
burned, they release large amounts of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, into the air.
Greenhouse gasses trap heat in our atmosphere, causing global warming. But amidst the
negatives, there are ways to collect energy safely, just like the use of solar panels as it is a renewable
source of power as an example. Solar energy as one of the most efficient and clean alternatives to
fossil fuel may be utilized with the intention of creating a cleaner environment. It has been
scientifically proven that solar panel cells can reach up to 23% at high efficiency.  Using this way, the
negative impacts of burning fossil fuels will be limited. This program will be exploiting the benefits
of solar panels for the pursuit of clean energy. As solar panels are significantly costly, this program
will help in the production of solar panels by providing insights into the science behind them. Thus,

following activities, the Solarity officers will select and announce the 3 lucky winners of solar
generators. The first winner will receive a solar powered scientific calculator, solar powered flashlight
for the second winner and 200W solar panel for the third winner. The Solarity Officers focus on
educating the residents of General Trias, Cavite about the benefits of alternative energy.

VI. OBJECTIVES
