ACTIVITY #1
As you go along with you daily routine in life, observe and describe the community you are
currently living in. Answer these questions critically and truthfully based on your experience and
write down important parts from your observation.

1. How would you describe your neighborhood/community?

Brgy. Mamala in Sariaya,Quezon, is a close-knit and tranquil small community tucked away from
the main busy roads of Sariaya,Quezon. It also offers a serene environment surrounded by lush
greenery.
2. Are your basic needs and services accessible from your home? How far are the stores,market
and shopping areas from your home?
Basic needs such as buying simple things are accessible with the area of our home since sari-sari
stores and small shops that sells foods and other consumable are quite common in the area.
However, the availability of services within the area might be limited when it comes to the likes
of healthcare centers with free services. Stores like sari-sari store aren’t that far from our home
since most of them are walking distance. As for the public market we still need to ride tricycles
in order to get there since it’s quite far from us and as for the shopping areas like SM, it’s
impossible to walk it from our area since we need to ride a public utility vehicle in order to get
in there.
3. What modes of transportation are available in your neighborhood? How long is the commute
from the city center?

The mode of transportation in our neighborhood are the traditional tricycles for those who
don’t have private vehicle. When it comes to commuting, it will take us around 30-40 mins in
order to reach the city center, Lucena, through commuting in public utility vehicle.

4. Are there any parks, playground, activity centers or areas like basketball courts,
bicycle/jogging paths. Etc.

In Mamala there’s a playground near the multipurpose center and basketball court which the
community usually use if there are certain events in the community but when it comes to
bicycle or jogging paths, it’s non-existent.

5. Are there any historical buildings of significance in your area?

Since I live in Sariaya,Quezon, the town is well known to its ancestral houses especially the well-
known Don Catalino Rodriguez mansion, since most of these houses are well preserved and it’s
also one of the town’s main attraction.
