5. Description
5.1 Installation Requirements

All necessary work permits applicable to installation site must be obtained before
beginning FloWatch installation. Appropriate installing procedures from Customer, Field Service
Company and third party, national and international codes and regulations, if applicable, must
be followed during installation. Immediately contact OSPF representative if any of these
requirements is in contrast with this Technical Manual, in order to obtain instruction for installing
FloWatch. A safety meting must be held and discuss HIRCA (refer to documents OS-SOST-
F002 and OS-SOMP-F001). All personal protective equipment (PPE) required on site (helmet,
safety glasses, safety boots, etc.) must be provided in order to safely complete FloWatch
installation.

Careful attention must be provided in order to avoid any risk to installation technicians. In
particular:

- Avoid any fluid leakage from by-pass, main pipeline, FloWatch manifolds or drains
during cables and wiring connections, power supply must be switched off

- Do not lift FloWatch without cranes or mechanical devices due to heavy weight. Four
lifting lugs are provided in order to facilitate FloWatch handling. Check on MPFM Sensor
Test- Report for FloWatch weight.

Mechanical installation must be completed, with all connections tightened or locked before
pressurizing FloWatch. Avoid any damage to meter body, with particular attention to valves and
transmitters connected to meter body, as well as to computer cabinet box and instrumentation.
Do not supply power to FloWatch cabinet if any of electronic devices (FlowComputer, barriers,
switches) is damaged or broken.

5.2 Metering Section

Two different parts compose FloWatch scope of supply:

- Metering section, to be installed between 2 piping flanges. The metering section is

completed by a box mounted on it and containing FEB cabinet box (FlowComputer)
need to be installed nearby of the metering section.
-
The distance depends on the type of FlowComputer: for Safe Area or Exd type for Zone
1 or 2 please see ATEX directive. Interconnection multi wire cable between
FlowComputer and FloWatch Sensor must not exceed 100 m as maximum length. The
FlowComputer containing Exi barriers, communication devices, CPU calculation and
power supply devices.

Next 2 sections describe metering section installation.

5.2.1 Piping installation between flanges

Metering section must be installed only vertically (90 degree ± 1 degree). Flow direction must
be upwards, (from bottom to top).

It is strictly NOT recommended to rotate the meter any degree, in order not to lose in accuracy
and precision of measurement.

One flow arrow (see the pictures below) is applied on metering section and the petroleum flow
must follow this arrow, the metering section must to be installed with this arrow oriented form
bottom to top.

To improve FloWatch measurement, and fluid mixing at low velocity, the sensor should be
installed after a blind tee horizontal connection and a 5 I.D. pipeline vertical length. An
additional blind tee can be installed after the Sensor to permit eventual inspection and
maintenance/washing operation on the FloWatch sensor.

Following drawings illustrate ideal FloWatch sensor installation:

After FloWatch Sensor installation, it is possible to open FEB enclosure and to have access to
isolation valves, instrument manifolds and transmitters and check for their integrity.

It is recommended to install heat tracing on instrument tubing and instrument manifolds at

locations where plugging of the instrument tubing and manifolds may occur.

Heat tracing should ensure a temperature in the instrument tubing and manifolds of 45°C, at
least.

FEB Enclosure includes intrinsically safe Field Electronics Board (FEB), certified to a minimum
ambient temperature of -40°C, and a maximum of +70°C.

FEB Enclosure must not be installed at ambient temperature lower or higher than these
temperatures. FEB surface temperature is measured continuously and can be viewed and
stored by HMI.

Refer to HMI Manual, MT-155, to obtain information about how to access this value.

If the meter is installed outdoor, a sunshade should be provided to protect FloWatch from direct
exposure to sun and rain especially for FlowComputer, if not included in OSPF scope of supply.

5.2.2 Electrical connections

Field equipment will be delivered with all internal cabling connected and terminated. Only
connection/termination required is multi pair shielded cable between metering section field
installation and Safe Area or Zone 1 or 2. This cable is connected through cable glands on FEB
enclosure, as indicated on picture below.

FloWatch must not be powered up until Pietro Fiorentini commissioning engineer comes for
commissioning or after contacting Pietro Fiorentini representative.
