Ask the students questions regarding the previous lesson.
1. What did we discuss last time?
2. What is migration?
3. Why is it important to study migration?
B. Establishing a STACK ME I’M FALLING
purpose for the lesson
(10 minutes) Break students into groups of 4. Pass out the following materials to
each group: Cups, yarn, and rubber bands.
The teacher will tie the yarn (in different lengths) to the rubber band.
Using their teamwork skills, students will work together to stack their
cups into a pyramid with 2 cups on the bottom, and 1 cup on top. The teacher will
explain that teams will have 5 minutes to build their pyramids. They are NOT
permitted to use their hands to move cups. They are ONLY allowed to use their one
hand, yarn, and a rubber band to pick up and move cups.

Processing Questions
1. Did you enjoy the game?
2. At what point in the activity did you feel like everyone was working together?
3. What skills did you apply during our activity?
4. How will collaboration affect your performance as a section?
C. Presenting PICTURE ANALYSIS

Processing Questions
1. What is the picture all about?
2. What skills made the football team wins?
3. Give scenarios where we can apply collaboration?
D. Discussing new Do you believe we are associated? Yes, we certainly are! We all have the chance to
concepts and relate with one another,
practicing new skills especially friends, families, and relatives inside or outside the country. How?
#1 Thanks to the help of social media and other online platforms we can see things far
(20 minutes) from us at close. With just one click away, we can now view the news around the
world. Some products we have in the Philippines are also the same product brand
across the globe. Give me examples of products we enjoy here in the Philippines that
originate from other countries.

These products are all possible thanks to the collaborative effort of the people who
made these products. We may have different skin colors, religions, beliefs, cultures,
and traditions, but we have a unified common goal, thus we did so many
collaborations and cooperations.

Definition of Terms
Before we go to the heart of our discussion, let us unlock some words to help us
understand the lesson.

 Collaboration is the action of working with someone to produce or create

something.
 Cooperation is the process of working together to the same end.

Collaboration – It means to work together with others to achieve a common goal. It is

unconditionally sharing everything and helping each other while mutually working together
in unified "collective" purpose which is to invent something new. Collaboration is a practice
used at various workplaces which allows several people or groups to work together to
complete a task and achieve the same goal.

Collaboration encompasses all the learning areas of the curriculum. For example, in
Discipline and Ideas in the Applied Social Sciences, one of our topics is social work.
How can we apply the concept of collaboration?

Indicator 1. Applied knowledge of content within and across curriculum teaching areas.
Annotation: Integration within a discipline (DIASS)
Cooperation - is a process that allows various people or groups of people or organizations to
act or work on the same project for mutual benefit instead of competing for the benefit of
every individual. It also means conditionally sharing information and resources while
functioning together within an independent "connective" typical role. Though the goal of
every participant in cooperation is the same but their interests are individual. It is based on
you help me and I help you in achieving a common goal for the benefit of both of us
individually.

In the subject of Health, cooperation among countries can be an effective tool to

strengthen, share and accelerate health development within countries and across
regions. For example, during the time of the pandemic, most countries are affected by
COVID-19. Thus, doctors, scientists, biochemists, and researchers around the world
conducted experiments to formulate the vaccines that we enjoy now. Over the years,
many have made important policies in addressing shared health goals through
cooperation with others.

Indicator 1. Applied knowledge of content within and across curriculum teaching areas.
Annotation: Integration across disciplines (MAPEH – Health and Values Education)
In Values Education, Filipinos are known for “Dagyaw or binuligay” in Hiligaynon term
meaning Bayanihan. It is helping others without expecting rewards, to achieve a certain goal.

In this example, excellence and collaboration among diverse people are exercised.
With collaboration, the people in the community were able to carry the house. The
more people work and collaborate, the easier and faster they can accomplish the task
and that affects the productivity of people (refers to their efforts and ability to
perform efficiently in their assigned task), the quality of their outputs, and their
perseverance to reach their goals are improved.

Annotation: The Value Cluster for Ethical Themes for the month of March is focused on EXCELLENCE with
includes productivity, quality, and perseverance.

Processing Questions:
1. Is Bayanihan a collaborative or cooperative work?
2. What are examples of situations where the Bayanihan spirit is still practiced?
3. What do you think will happen to the amount of time used to complete a task
if members are collaborating?
4. What do you think is the effect of collaboration on productivity, quality, and
perseverance?
5. Why do we need to develop collaboration and cooperation?
E. Discussing new Individual Activity “Diagram Analysis”
concepts and Direction: Using the diagram below, identify the difference between collaboration
practicing new skills and cooperation.
#2
(20 minutes)

Processing Questions:
1. What is the diagram all about?
2. Based on the diagram, what is the goal of collaboration?
3. Based on the diagram, what is the goal of cooperation?
4. What is the main difference between collaboration and cooperation?
5. Cite one specific scenario that shows the difference between collaboration and
cooperation.
Literacy
The teacher uses pictures for the student to comprehend the difference between collaboration and
cooperation.

The teacher will further enhance students learning from the activity given.
Collaboration implies shared ownership and interest in a specific outcome. If you and
I collaborate on a project, we have shared authorship. Cooperation, on the other
hand, could just mean that you've given me help on something I'm working on and
that I'm ultimately responsible for.

Collaboration is a synchronized and coordinated activity in which the participants

continuously try to develop and sustain the solution of the problem shared between
them while cooperation can be completed by dividing the labor between the
participants to solve the assigned portion of the problem individually.

For example, you are tasked to create a song that includes mathematical terms and
operations. You are all brainstorming to create the lyrics of the song and thus, you
show collaboration. Another is when you are tasked to create a movie. There are
cameramen, director, actors, staff, and others. This is an example of a cooperative
task; you may have one goal “to make a movie” but you are making an individual
errand to complete the task.

Individual Activity “Graph Analysis”

The teacher will share a success story of using collaboration to aid company success.
Direction: Analyze the graph and answer the question that follows.

Meetings Around the World: The Impact of Collaboration on Business Performance. A Frost & Sullivan White Paper Sponsored by
Verizon Business and Microsoft
file:///C:/Users/User/Downloads/research%20base%20stat.pdf
Teamwork and workplace collaboration efforts increase company sales by
27%.
A company’s collaboration index increases sales by 27% and improves customer
satisfaction ratings by 41%, according to data from Frost & Sullivan. The study also
showed that collaboration improves product quality by 34% and improves product
development by 30%.

Processing Questions:
1. What is the graph all about?
2. What do you think is the purpose of the graph?
3. How many performance indicators are on the graph? What are they?
4. What is the percentage increase of each indicator?
5. How will you interpret the graph in connection to collaboration?
Numeracy
The teacher presented a graph on the effects of collaboration on the company’s success. The teacher will
ask for interpretations from the students that will show their HOTS starting from basic questions to a more
complex ones.
Indicator 2. Used a range of teaching strategies that enhance learner achievement in literacy and
numeracy skills.

Indicator 3. Applied a range of teaching strategies to develop critical and creative thinking, as well as
other higher-order thinking skills.

Indicator 5. Managed learner behavior constructively by applying positive and non-violent discipline to
ensure learning-focused environments.
HOTS
The teacher elicits responses from the students through a question-and-answer approach. She engages the
learners in meaningful discussions through the process questions. The process questions were arranged
from simple to complex. This is to provoke the critical thinking skills of learners.
F. Developing mastery DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION
(leads to formative The students will be grouped into four. Each group will create a presentation that
assessment) will showcase their understanding of the lesson through collage-making, songwriting
(20 minutes) or jingle-making, poetry-making, and concept mapping.
