Task and item specifications

Audio texts/source: Topics and text characteristics (text lengths, genres) similar to those used in the course

Test tasks: Students will listen to several audio texts, including two short conversations, an extended
conversation, and a lecture. After each audio text, they are to complete a range of questions that measures
their listening comprehension.

Test techniques: True/false, multiple-choice, selective gap-filling and short-answer

Scoring method: Objective scoring. Answer keys provided. Students will be awarded 1 mark for each
correct answer; partial marking is awarded for correct answer but incorrect spelling and 0 is given to
incorrect answers.
