Project 2: Sustainable

House Design
Project Title Sustainable House Design

9/3/20XX Presentation Title 2

Project Description
• The students are to design a sustainable house in a 10m x 10m lot area.
• The sustainable house design project is a comprehensive research and design
project focused on developing an energy-efficient, environmentally friendly,
and aesthetically pleasing sustainable small house.

• The project involves conducting research on sustainable design principles,

materials, and construction methods, as well as evaluating potential locations
for the small house.

9/3/20XX Presentation Title 3

Project Description
• The design phase includes developing a detailed floor plan and elevation
drawings that incorporate sustainable design features such as passive solar
heating, rainwater harvesting, and natural ventilation.

• The project also includes conducting a life cycle analysis to assess the
environmental impact of the materials and technologies used in the design.

9/3/20XX Presentation Title 8

Project content
 Explain the purpose and scope of the project: This should include why you are
designing a small sustainable house, what makes the house sustainable, and what
the final product will look like.

 Define what is meant by a "small sustainable house": This definition should be

specific to the project and may include size limitations, design elements, or
environmental considerations.

 Provide an overview of the project goals and objectives: This should include the
main objectives of the project and how you plan to achieve them. It may also
include any specific challenges you anticipate and how you plan to overcome
them.

9/3/20XX Presentation Title 10

 Conduct research on sustainable housing design and construction methods: This
should include a thorough review of existing literature and research on
sustainable design, as well as case studies of successful sustainable housing
projects.

 Gather information on green building materials and technologies: This should

include information on materials and technologies that reduce environmental
impact, such as low-flow toilets, recycled building materials, and solar panels.

 Evaluate the proposed location for the small house and consider environmental
factors, local zoning regulations, and building codes: This should include
researching the local climate, sun exposure, and soil quality, as well as any local
regulations that may impact the design and construction of the house.

9/3/20XX Presentation Title 11

 Develop a floor plan and elevation drawings for the small house: This should
include detailed drawings of the layout and exterior of the house, as well as any
specific design features that make the house sustainable.

 Incorporate sustainable design principles and features into the design: This may
include features such as passive solar heating, rainwater harvesting, and natural
ventilation.

9/3/20XX Presentation Title 12

 Consider the use of renewable energy sources and water conservation methods:
This may include the use of solar panels, wind turbines, or geothermal heating, as
well as low-flow toilets and showers.

 Conduct a life cycle analysis to assess the environmental impacts of the materials
and technologies used in the design: This should include an evaluation of the
energy required to produce and transport materials, as well as the environmental
impact of waste generated during construction and demolition.

9/3/20XX Presentation Title 13

 Develop a budget for the construction of the small house (if applicable): This
should include all anticipated costs, including materials, labor, and permits.

9/3/20XX Presentation Title 14

9/3/20XX Presentation Title 15
 Summarize the project goals and objectives: This should include a brief summary
of the main objectives of the project and how they were achieved.

 Discuss any challenges or limitations faced during the planning and construction
process: This may include unexpected costs, regulatory challenges, or logistical
issues.

 Ideas for future research, improvements, and potential areas of expansion.
