DOMINATING THE DETERRENTS
T his article will be centered upon a scriptural citation
taken by the writer from the word of God ,
Matthew chapter 18 verses 6 to 9
Verse 6
“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who
believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them
to have a large millstone hung around their neck and
to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”
Stumbling blocks are the order of Life as Psalms
says :
Psalms 34 verses 19 and 20
19The righteous person may have many troubles,
but the LORD delivers him from them all;
20heprotects all his bones, not one of them will be
broken.
Thus the bible tells us clearly that the
AFFLICTIONS are there and they may increase if
one walks in righteousness. Therefore if you
wonder why your life is always “WAR IN –WAR
OUT” and you walk before God in righteous and
blamelessness. You might look at other people’s
lives, who seem better off than you are but
evidently bask in sin. Brethren do not despair
because the Lord surely fights for you. These
increased challenges that you face also mean
increased victory over them.
“The heat you feel in that DESERT is heat from
a place where your DINNER for tomorrow is
being prepared……... ”

The bible speaks of these challenges as ones
that mold you into developing patients,
endurance and hope.
As an honor to his word the Lord promises the
righteuos and blameless that whoever or what-
so ever causes them to stumble will face
absolute condemnation.
The Stumbling Blocks /Deterrents
The previous article ( Part 1) clearly outlined
that as Christians we should possess the
attributes of a child. Therefore we will be
walking in faithfulness before God, laying our
full dependence on God.
In this world , the Crimes committed against
children are the ones most condemned by the
law. Henceforth the Lord also responds with
wrath to any crime or affliction or challenge
faced by his Child (The devotee.)
Looking at the deterrents or stumbling blocks,
one might think that things that arise against
you are only being caused by the devil. Yes the
devil causes these but you as an individual may
also cause these stumbling blocks or deterrents
to occur.
Therefore the Deterrents maybe :
1. EXTRUSIVE
OR
2. INTRUSIVE
Verse 7
7Woe to the world because of the things that cause
people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe
to the person through whom they come!

Dominating The Deterrents

The extrusive deterrents are those that come
without your knowledge. These include
sicknesses , problems or any stumbling blocks
coming as a result of evil activity against your
life. But with great pleasure these stumbling
blocks will never affect or destroy a child of God
because he or she is rooted in the word in
prayer , with the Armor of God and the Holy
Spirit.
The most dangerous of obstacles or stumbling
blocks are INTRUSIVE. These are the ones
coming from within. The following scripture
explains these these kind of deterrents :
Verse 8 and 9
8If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut
it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life
maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two
feet and be thrown into eternal fire.
9And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out
and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life
with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown
into the fire of hell
Those who walk by the spirit are the Children of
God and the Lord did not give us a spirit of fear
or intimidation but a spirit of life , joy and a
Sound Mind. We should take heed therefore of
our lives before the Lord, Like JOB walking
blameless lives before both God and men.
Whatever obstacle comes we have an
advantage of favor because the eye of the Lord
is upon those walking in righteousness. Moving
with the spirit , being guided every step in life,
him going before us, giving us utterance ,
excellence and elegance. We will always and
definitely dominate these deterrents rooted in
Christ and moving to greater dimensions of
Grace.

Your mind controls your body and you think

about anything before you act upon it.
Therefore the mind is the Central Processing
Unit of the Body that is why Apostle Paul tells
us in the book of Romans :

Romans 12 verse 2
2Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you
will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—
his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Therefore as Christians our minds should be

channeled toward serving the Lord and not the
Flesh because the Flesh has its evil desires but
the Spirit desires that we might have life and
have it in Abundance rooted in Jesus Christ the
word made flesh.
