Ansys Discovery Setup

This document will guide you through the setup of your Ansys Discovery or Ansys SpaceClaim
installation.
The 5 key steps are as follow:
1. Receive an email notification that your trial/purchased license is available
2. Register your user account
3. Assign the subscription license to the user (your own account included)
4. Download and install the Discovery/SpaceClaim software
5. Activate the software

1. You will receive an email notification like the one shown below:

Click the Sign In link to proceed.

2. You will be redirected to a page where you can begin the account registration process.
Make sure to register using the same email address that received the notification. If you
are prompted to enter a phone number, use one that will be accessible at the time you
plan to log in. Some Ansys portals require multi-factor authentication via a call or SMS
text message.

*If you are registering a trial license, proceed to Step 4

3. Once your account is created, you will need to assign the subscription to yourself and/or
any additional users. Log into your account at myaccount.ansys.com. First time users will
not see any subscriptions assigned under My Subscriptions.

Click the Administration tab at the top of the page.

 You will see your own name is already listed under Users. To add an additional user(s), click
Add User.

To assign a subscription license to yourself, activate the check box next to your own name
and click Assign. In the next menu, select the subscription license(s) you wish to assign,
then click Assign again. If you return to My Subscriptions, you should now see those
licenses associated with your individual user account.

4. All materials related to Ansys Discovery and Ansys SpaceClaim can be found in the Discovery
Community Forum at discoveryforum.ansys.com. You can log in using the credentials
defined in Step 2.
The Download page can be accessed from the right side of the forum home page.

Once the download is completed, locate the ZIP file and right click it. Select Extract All and
extract the contents to a new folder. Once the files have been extracted, navigate to that
folder in Windows and launch Setup.exe, then click Install Ansys Products

* The Ansys License Manager is not required for named user licenses. It should only be
installed if you are using an enterprise floating license.

5. Once the installation has completed, go to the Windows Start menu and locate the program
folder (e.g. Ansys 2021 R1). Expand the folder and launch Ansys Discovery 2021 R1 or
SpaceClaim 2021 R1, depending on what license you purchased.
A login prompt will appear. Use the same email and password as the previous steps. This
will activate the software.
