ABSTRACT

Hypertension in pregnancy is a serious medical condition that affects approximately 10% of

pregnancies worldwide. It is characterized by high blood pressure levels during pregnancy and
can lead to a range of complications for both the mother and the baby. The most common types
of hypertension in pregnancy include gestational hypertension, pre-eclampsia, and chronic
hypertension. Risk factors for developing hypertension in pregnancy include obesity, preexisting
high blood pressure, and a history of pre-eclampsia. Treatment options may include medication,
lifestyle changes, and close monitoring of blood pressure levels. It is important for pregnant
women to receive regular prenatal care and to work closely with their healthcare providers to
manage hypertension in pregnancy and minimize the risk of complications.
