These two models have many components to each and is used to enhance reading and reading
comprehension as well as gain knowledge on word recognition, decoding and sightword knowledge. These
two models may have different goals into achieving skilled and fluent reading but they both have
important concepts that enhance automatic and strategic reading. The cognitive model helps us look at
the thinking side of things where as the simple view helps us look at the areas of proficiency for
literacy development. Both are important to lead the pathway to reading success.
