Question 1

1. (a) Firstly, I will briefly explain it to my learners the 3D shape that it has 3
sides which describes the length of the shape, the width of the shape and the
height of the shape. Secondary to that, however I will tell the learners which or
rather do not know how to calculate these 3 sides that all sides must be
calculated, and so to speak to that we have to calculate all sides. Therefore, I
will explain it to them that the length describes the length of the shape and
width describes the width of the shape and lastly the height describes the
length of the shape. So, in order for us to find the formula of the shape, we will
then say.
V= Length x Width x Height

(b) It’s cubic because volume occupies a three-dimensional space, distance is

measured in one unit of length.

2. (a) V= L x W x H
L= 50cm
W= 20cm
H= 100cm
:. 50x20x100

V = 100000 cm³

(b) Box 2

V= Lx B x W

V= 0.6m x 1, 2m x 2m

V= 1. 44m²

1.44 ‫؞‬x 100= 144cm

So for Box 1, I will then 100000cm³/ 10 000

=10 cm²

= 10cm² x R1, 50c p/cm²

= R150.00

For Box 2 I will then add 10cm²+ 144cm

= 154cm/ R1.50c

So therefore, it’s R102, 66 for both boxes.

Question 4

(a) The learners do not understand at all the concept of area, however me as a
teacher I need to find a way to make them comprehend the concept of area in
its simplest form, I will explain it to them that area is the number that
measures the extent of a two- dimensional region, form, or horizontal plane, in
the plane. This however will give the learners an idea of how this concept
works while I’m explaining it to them, so in order for them further I will make
an example of the shape above that the figure is 3units by 6 units and the
area is how many units are within this figure of which there are 18 if you
multiply that 6 by 3. To make the 18.
(b) Reason why area is measure in square units is because area of a figure is the
number of squares needed entirely cover it, similar to the number of bars in a
chocolate.
(c) A= L x B
=6x3
A= 18
(d) Yes, the area is of perimeter, because the area of this field has 4 sides and
the grandfather wants to cover it with 4 strands of barbed wire that is going to
be enough for the field.

(e) Perimeter= Length + Width + Length + Width

= 6 units+ 3 units + 6 units + 3 units

=18 units
= 18 x 4 strands of barbed wire
= 72 units.

Question 5

1. V= L x B x W
= 7cm x 7cm x 7cm
= 343cm³
