Welcome ALL 2023-2024 Cheerleader Candidates. We are excited that you are interested in being a
part of the cheer program at Rock Hill High School.

Please read the tryout packet and code of conduct carefully to ensure that both you and your parents
have all necessary information for a successful cheer tryout.

Parents/Guardians and PISD High School Mascot Candidate,

The 2023-2024 PISD High School Cheerleaders will continue the legacy of excellence. Their hard work and
dedication to all of our PISD high schools and the community will continue to make Blue Hawk Cheer an elite
organization. If you desire friendships, success, self-discipline, lasting memories, endless opportunities for
involvement, and the opportunity to be a leader at Rock Hill High School, we encourage you to try out to be a
cheerleader.

This packet is designed to share some important information with you regarding the tryout process and what
the year will look like as a PISD high school cheerleader. As a member of Blue Hawk Cheer, you will have the
opportunity to perform at football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball, and baseball games, as well as some
wrestling and swim meets. You will perform in pep rallies, parades, playoff games and other special events
throughout the year. In addition to these performances, the team will also participate in fundraising and
community service projects. All cheerleaders trying out to be a Rock Hill High School Cheerleader will
also be committing to be a part of the Rock Hill High School Competitive Cheer Team for 2023-2024.
The 2023-2024 tryouts for becoming a member of the cheerleading program will be a learning experience for
your daughter/son. We will take the candidates through the tryout process in order to prepare them to be
judged by a certified panel of judges. Please remember that all judges’ scores will be final.

As a prospective cheerleader, please be aware of the time and energy it takes to be an effective student leader
responsible for representing a PISD high school in all aspects of extracurricular activities, both on and off
campus. We hope that you will discuss the expectations and obligations of being a PISD high school
cheerleader with your son/daughter. The cheerleading experience helps students form friendships, enrich
communication, and develop group dynamic skills, and responsibility. It also provides countless opportunities to
foster leadership skills that will prove beneficial later in life.

Please read all information carefully in the packet and the code of conduct before signing the contracts. If you
have any questions, please contact the appropriate coach for your high school.

 Financial Obligations:

VARSITY(MASCOT): ($500 due at Fittings March 20/$500 due April 18th/remaining balance due May
16th) All fees must be paid before Summer Break.

$1150 - Booster Dues, Camp, Practice Wear Outfits, Shoes, Uniform & Warm Up Fees, Cold Weather
Gear, Long Sleeves, Bows, Choreography Fees, etc.

Additional costs that come up throughout the year are as follows but not limited to:

-Big/Little Gifts
-Team Bonding Events

Tryout Information
Tryouts will be held March 27th at Rock Hill High School and judged by coaches. Results will be
emailed out!

Structure for Tryouts

1. Candidates will perform a minute long skit as “Rocky” and will have the opportunity to showcase overall
creativity. Candidates will be able to perform in the mascot suit or out of the suit.

Tryout Rules and Procedures:

1. Google Form Application attached to this packet must be turned in by 4:00 pm, Monday, February
27th. If the Google Form is not completed by this time/date, the candidate may not try out to be a PISD
High School Cheerleader.
2. Only those candidates trying out for cheerleader will be allowed in the gym area.
3. All candidates’ will have an individual number assigned to them. These will be randomly drawn at the
clinic. You must wear your assigned number at chest level.
4. There is not a set number of cheerleaders on each team. The coaches and administration will look for
the natural break in scores and that will determine the team.
5. An administrator will dismiss all candidates when the tryout process is complete and callbacks are no
longer necessary.
6. If you do NOT make the cheer team you have 5 school days to request your scores from the Assistant
Principal who supports cheer and dance at your high school. For RHHS, the contact is Mrs. Yatishe
Milner (yymilner@prosper-isd.net). If you make the cheer team you will not be allowed to request your
scores.
