ANALYZING NONFICTIONAL ELEMENTS

MOOD This is the feeling or atmosphere the author makes for the reader.

MORAL This is the call towards having a good behavior; this could be in the form of maxim, or a saying.

SUSPENSE It is the feeling of excitement, tension, or even pressure by the reader as he/ she gets involved in the
story to know the outcome of a particular conflict.
It might be the revelation of the characters as an illegitimate child or the like
Action, thriller or horror genres.
SYMBOL It is the representation of a person place or an object
TONE It is the attitude of the author towards its subject. It could be joyful, serious, humorous, angry, among
others
It can be identified by observing the choice of the words of the writer. The style of his/her writing can
also reveal his/her tone.

Give some textual proof.

2. What is the impact of the setting to the over-all atmosphere or meaning of the story?
Analyzing Plot 1. Do you think the sequence of the story is logical?
2. What technique did the author use to make the plot more creative?
Did he use flashback or foreshadowing?
Was he successful?
Analyzing Point of 1. What is the point of view of the story?
