DIFFICULT ENGINE START

Symptom
Difficult engine start
No fault codes are displayed

Cause
Fuel pressure regulator:
Damaged O-ring

Solutions
Connect the diagnostic tool
During engine start:
Check the engine speed (rpm)
Expected value: > 250 rpm
Check that the camshaft and crankshaft are synchronised

If no fault is found
Operate the starter motor
Check the fuel rail pressure
Expected value: 330 bar

If the displayed value is: 70 bar

Within 2 seconds
If the value increases: 120 - 150 bar
Check the fuel pressure regulator dwell readings
Expected value: 15 - 19%

If the value is too high: 40 %

Connect a pressure gauge at the high-pressure fuel pump inlet
Check the fuel pressure
Expected value: 2.8 - 3 bar

If the value is correct

Check the fuel flow correction parameters for each cylinder

If the values are correct

Remove the fuel pressure regulator
Check the O-ring

If a fault is found
