KOLLIHILLS TOURISM DEVELOPMENT

Kolli Hills is a small mountain range located in Namakkal district of

Tamilnadu. It is the meeting point of Trichy, Namakkal and Salem districts.
The altitude of the mountains is ranges from 3300 feet to 4000 feet above
mean sea level and covering an area of 280 square kilometer. The Kolli hills
are part of Eastern Ghats, and runs parallel to east coast of South India and
it is relatively untouched by tourism and still retains the pollution free
environment with natural beauty. Kolli hill is tucked away between
Pachamalai and Kalrayan hill ranges of the Eastern Ghats and it is indeed a
remarkable place in Tamil Nadu. Unlike man-made Ooty and Kodaikanal,
Kolli Hills is traditional hill country, the land of friendly tribes, and a part of
the erstwhile kingdom of Valvil Ori, a Tamil king who was renowned for his
generosity and courage Formed in the shape of an open square, these hills
were also known as Chathuragiri, literally meaning square-shaped hills.
Since the altitude of the Kolli hills is ranging from 1000 m to 1300 m, it
enjoys a salubrious climate throughout the year.
