SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS VII

I. GENERAL OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to achieve at least 75% proficiency
level in the following behavior:

1. Identify the number of terms in an expression

2. Determine whether an algebraic expression is a polynomial or not.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Polynomials
Reference: Teacher’s Guide Mathematics 7
Materials: Textbook
Chart
PowerPoint Presentation
Flash Cards

III. LESSON PROPER

Motivation
The teacher will provide a ball and ask student to pass the ball once the music
started, the one who’s holding the ball when the music stops will answer one of
the questions about polynomials inside the box.

A. ACTIVITY

“POLYNOMIAL OR NOT?”
a. Provide standards for the group activity.
b. Give the mechanics of the activity.
1. Let them guess the given if it’s a polynomial or not.
2. Let them answer the polynomial equations.
3. Write it on the board.

B. ANALYSIS
a. Process the activity.
b. Ask further questions.
1. What can you say about the activity?
2. What do you think our lesson for today?

C. ABSTRACTION
Proceed to the new lesson which is the Polynomials.
a. Ask the students what are they thoughts about polynomials.
b. What is a polynomial?
c. Introduce polynomial.
d. When do we say that an algebraic expression is not polynomial?

D. APPLICATION (group activity)

This activity is a group quiz bee. The teacher will divide the class into 6 groups. There must be a
representative in each group to raise their answers. The teacher will present different algebraic
expression and the student will identify if the given expression is polynomial or not. The group
who will get the higher score will be declared as the winner.
