Executive Summary: Education has long been regarded as the cornerstone of
all countries' nation-building and economic progress. More
specifically, emphasizes that education is central to any
country's democracy and that, at the very least, acquiring a
basic education is critical for the advancement of citizens' well-
being.
According to the 2019 Borgen Project report, the
Philippines has the highest dropout rate among ASEAN
countries, at 6.38 percent among elementary students and 7.82
percent among secondary school students. The COVID-19
pandemic is worsening the situation, with one-fifth of Filipino
elementary and high school students - equivalent to more than
five million schoolchildren - having failed to enroll for the 2020-
2021 academic year, according to reports.
School Leaver Rate is the EFA measure for dropout rate.
It covers both students who do not finish a particular grade/
year level as well as those who finish but fail to enroll in the
next grade/year level the following school year. Additionally,
School Leaver Rate is also increasing due to failing to enroll,
change in residence, illness, early pregnancy, child labor and
early pregnancy. The complexities of phenomenon involve
various and coordinated solutions. Where poverty has a
negative impact on education, parents, schools, and
communities can work together to mitigate its effects on young
learners.
This project's activities for the two (2) quarters were all fully
realized. In more detail, 4 of the 7 activities were completed.
