MULTIMEDIA WORKSHEET – TECHNICAL VOC.

1. Look at the following glossary of words and its meaning, then look for the translation of the words
in bold into Spanish:

 ASPECT RATIO: The proportional relationship between the width and height of an image or video
 BITRATE: The amount of data processed per unit of time, usually expressed in bits per second
(bps). It determines the quality and size of audio or video files.
 CHROMA KEYING: A technique used to remove a specific color from a video or image, often used
in green screen compositing.
 CODEC: Short for "coder-decoder," it refers to software or algorithms used to compress and
decompress multimedia data.
 COMPOSITING: The process of combining multiple visual elements, such as images or videos,
to create a final composite image or video.
 DPI/PPI: Dots per inch (DPI) or pixels per inch (PPI) measure the resolution of printed or digital
images, respectively.
 FRAME RATE: The number of frames displayed per second (fps) in a video. Common frame rates
include 24 fps, 30 fps, and 60 fps.
 KEYFRAME: A reference frame that defines a specific point in an animation or video, often used
for setting positions, transformations, or effects.
 LOSSLESS COMPRESSION: A compression method that reduces file size without sacrificing
quality. It allows the original data to be perfectly reconstructed.
 LOSSY COMPRESSION: A compression method that achieves higher compression ratios but
sacrifices some data quality. It permanently discards certain information to reduce file size.
 METADATA: Information embedded within a multimedia file that describes its content, such as
title, author, date, and keywords.
 NON-LINEAR EDITING: A method of editing where video and audio clips can be rearranged and
modified independently of their original order.
 RENDER: The process of generating the final output, such as a video file or image, based on the
instructions and settings given in a multimedia project.
 RESOLUTION: The number of pixels displayed in an image or video, typically expressed as width
x height (e.g., 1920x1080 for Full HD).
 STORYBOARD: A visual representation or sequence of sketches that outlines the key scenes and
actions in a multimedia project, serving as a blueprint for production.
 TIMELINE: A graphical representation of the chronological order of media elements (audio, video,
images) in a project.
 TRANSCODING: The process of converting a multimedia file from one encoding format to
another, typically to ensure compatibility or optimize file size and quality.
 TRANSITION: A visual effect that occurs when moving from one media element to another, often
used to smooth the change between scenes or shots.
 VECTOR GRAPHICS: Images represented by mathematical equations, allowing them to be scaled
without losing quality or pixelation.
 WATERMARK: A visible or invisible mark or logo overlaid on multimedia content to indicate
ownership or prevent unauthorized use.
