I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
a. Define the important terms in studying Front Office Services (FOS).
b. Match the tools, equipment and paraphernalia and its uses in FOS.
c. Appreciate the importance of FOS terms and tools that applies to specific jobs.

Credit Card Voucher Holder ➢ It is used to file the credit card transactions made by the
guests of the hotel.
Bell Boys Cart ➢ It is used to carry the luggage of theguest going to its guest room.
Computer and printer (with reservation system) ➢ It is used to encode guest information
and other Front Office-related transactions.
Cash Register ➢ a machine for calculating and recording sales transactions. It comes with a
drawer for the storage of money.
Bills Detector ➢ It is used to detect the money whether is fake or not.
Hypercom ➢ The device is used for credit and debit card payments for hotels,restaurants,
and other establishments.
Credit Card Imprinter ➢ It is used to print out receipts of payments done using the
ATM or credit card.
Key Card Marker ➢ The marker itself will help the card to detect and open the guest door.
Key Card Verifier ➢ The device is used to register Key cards with special codes that are used
for guest rooms.
Key Rack ➢ It is used to storeroom keys of the hotel.
Cash Box Drawer ➢ It is used to store money from the payments received by the cashier.
Guest Folio Rack ➢ This hotel paraphernalia is used for guest information and other hotel
charges.
Telephone ➢ Accept calls inside and out of the hotel. It is also used to accept reservations
and any other hotel-related concerns.
Typewriter ➢ is a mechanical device to produce printed characters on a piece of paper by
typing individual keys.8
Fax Machine ➢ is a device that is used to send documents electronically over a telephone
network.
Calculator ➢ is a device that performs arithmetic operations on numbers.
Safety Deposit Box ➢ the main function is to store money and any valuable items of the
guest.
Lapel Microphone ➢ a small microphone used for television, theatre, and public
speaking applications in order to allow for hands-free operation.
Front Office Tools
Logbook ➢ it is used to write all the Front Office-related matters like hotel reservations and
the like.
Room Key ➢ An old version of keys which is used to open hotel guest rooms.
Vingcard ➢ this modern key is used to open guest rooms of the hotel with special codes
intended.
Whiteboard ➢ it is often used for urgent announcements for any Hotel operations.
Luggage Tag ➢ it is used when the guest wants to leave his luggage in the concierge for early
arrival guests.
Front Office Paraphernalia
Registration form ➢ it is being filled out by the guest for hotel reservations or walk-in
guests, this contains some information about the guest.
Cancellation form ➢ it is used for guests who cancel their hotel reservations.
No Show Form ➢ it is used for guests who reserved a hotel accommodation but did not
arrive on the expected date of reservation.
Credit Card Voucher ➢ means a paper or electronic record of a Credit Transaction through
the use of a Bank Card in a form provided or approved by PRI.

F. Application
a. The teacher will group the class into 5 groups.

their uses.
