Community structure Mu.SA COMMUNITY CHARTER Who we are Mu.SA Community (MSC), is an international informal group of Cultural Heritage professionals based in the European Union. It aims to exchange local practices, implement self professional education and training, and create new opportunities of transnational cooperation in every cultural field. .
Where we come from
The Community was born by participants and partners from three European projects: eCult Skills (LifeLong Learning Programme – Leonardo da Vinci 2013/2015), Mu.SA Museum Sector Alliance (Erasmus+ / Sector Skills Alliances.2017/2019), M.I.C.A. - Mu.SA International Community Activators (Erasmus+/ small scale cooperation 2021/2023).
Partners from Mu.SA project were:
Hellenic Open University (HOU) – DAISSy group, Greece – Coordinator Melting Pro Learning (MeP), Italy ICOM, Portugal Link Campus University, Italy National Organization for the Certification of Qualifications and Vocational Guidance (EOPPEP), Greece Symbola – Fondazione per le Qualità Italiane, Italy University of Porto (U.PORTO), Portugal Institute of Vocational Training AKMI (AKMI), Greece Istituto per i Beni Artistici, Naturali e Culturali della Regione Emilia- Romagna, Italy ICOM, Greece Culture Action Europe (CAE), Belgium Mapa das Ideias (MAPAS), Portugal They create courses and online modules for new digital professions in the Cultural field. Training sessions were open just for Museum specialists from around Europe, Especially Italy, Greece and Portugal. Since the first lessons, participants felt the necessity to go beyond the education field and create more stable connections with other professionals, to share ideas, best practices, and collaboration opportunities. From this very practical need was born the idea to create the M.I.C.A. project.
Even though Partners of MICA Project came from Mu.SA experience
(except for the coordinator Cultura REPublic ETS an Italian no-profit led by some ex Mu.SA student), the focus was totally on the new digital community. Aim of MICA was to give the participants themselves the tools to create and manage an active, sustainable international digital community. Furthermore, partners wanted to go beyond the Museums field and open the access to professionals from the cultural world, in its wider meaning.
Our Mission
Mu.SA Community Mission is to create an open, active, sustainable
digital community for European professionals in the Cultural Fields. MSC scope is to establish a shared virtual space for European Cultural Heritage progress in an updated and sustainable way.
We aims to:
Create opportunities of professional improvement through self-
learning and training shared opportunities. Generate new national and transnational cooperation opportunities through continuous networking and active participation at community life Exhange best practices and new ideas. Our Values Part Three
Mu.SA Community Values are:
1 . Open access: Access to the community is open to whoever works
or wants to work in the Cultural field, and shares our mission and values.
2. Diversity is gold: We believe that diversity (from European
Countries level to individuals), is one of our greater assets. Therefore, respect for diversity no matter which form it takes, is mandatory to be part of this community.
3. Equality: each community member has the same relevance of
all the others.
4. Active participation: A community works if all its members make
an effort to actively participate in its life, contributing with the time, effort and resources that can share. This point too won’t generate any sort of discrimination or distinction among members.
5. Yes, and...: Open mindedness and acceptance to other
members' proposals. Mu.SA Community encourages a proactive positive attitude among members and the community itself. Mu.SA COMMUNITY RULES Community Structure
Mu.SA International community has two main cores
1. The International Community 2. The National Communities
The International Community: is the main apparatus of the MSC, its
tasks are: Community Management Definition of common MSC policies and actions Coordination of National Communities International representative actions Official Communication and Community branding International MSC meetings management Financial Management and Fundraising for transnational activities
The National Communities: are National/local emanations of the
MSC. Their Main tasks are: National Community management Alignment with International Management Promotion of MSC values and activities on National territories Coordination and communication among National members Financial Management and Fundraising for National activities
Both International and Nationals communities have the same form.
Each one will have an Administrative office, for decision making and bureaucratic work, and a financial office for community expenses and funding.
Each decision will be taken through democratic votes. Each
member can cast a vote for each decision. If any member can’t participate in voting assemblies, it will have the chance to delegate, in written form, his vote to another member. Each member can be a delegate for just one other member.
Cultural Institutions, no matter their form, can participate
collectively in the Community. Anyway each institution will have to elect a single person as its representative. Each institution will count as one member and will have the same rights and weight of single participants. Single professionals can be personally members even though their work institution is a member too. Institution Representatives can be changed, given written communication to the MSC administrative office.
