Education is a field that is constantly evolving and adapting to technological

developments. One important aspect of language learning is listening skills. Listening is a


complex and important skill in understanding the language being taught. According to Brown
(2014), listening is a person's ability to understand and interpret messages conveyed through
hearing. Good listening skills enable one to understand the context, meaning and purpose of
messages conveyed in English. According to Richards (2015), listening skills enable students
to obtain authentic language input and practice their ability to understand English orally. With
good listening skills, students can develop their understanding of the correct vocabulary,
grammar, intonation and pronunciation in English. But at this time, students often face
difficulties in developing their listening skills. The challenges faced in teaching listening are
the lack of interest and motivation of students, difficulties in understanding different accents
and intonations, as well as limited resources and relevant materials. Therefore, there is a need
for an innovative and effective approach in teaching listening. In today's digital era,
technology has changed the way music is accessed and consumed. One of the popular music
applications is Spotify. Spotify is a music streaming platform that allows users to listen to
songs of various genres and artists online. These apps have become an important part of
many people's daily lives, especially the younger generation. In the education industry, the
use of technology in learning has become an increasingly popular trend. Spotify as a popular
music application can be used as an effective tool in teaching listening. By using Spotify,
teachers can choose songs that suit students' needs and interests, as well as provide variety in
learning materials. In addition, Spotify also provides features that can assist in teaching
listening, such as song repetition, emphasis on lyrics, and the ability to create playlists
tailored to learning topics. This can increase students' interest and motivation in learning to
listen. In the context of the music industry, the use of Spotify as a learning tool can also
increase the exposure and popularity of artists and songs. By including songs in learning
contexts, students can better appreciate and understand music from various genres and
cultures. Thus, research on the effectiveness of using the Spotify app in teaching listening has
high relevance in today's education industry.

This type of research used is quantitative research. The purpose of this study was to
see if songs from the Spotify Music App are effective to improve listening skill. The
statement of the research problem in this research was "Is there a significant difference in
listening ability between before and after using learning through spotify application for
students’ at second grade of SMPN 3 Kedungwaru, Tulungagung ?”, 1) the population of this

study is the students of class VIII SMPN 3 KEDUNGWARU , 2) the sample of this research
is the students of class VIII D with a total of 28 students (as the experimental class) and class
VIII A with 27 students (as the control class), 3) the instrument of this research used a test, 4)
the data analysis of this study used the independent sample t-test.

ABSTRAK

Tujuan umum dari pengabdian ini yaitu untuk memberi kelompok Sri Amerta Sari dan
Karya Santi dari desa Tianyar peluang usaha baru dengan memberikan sebuah pelatihan
kerajiinan tempurung kelapa dengan administrasi dan manejemennya dilengkapi dengan
SIUP. Pengabdian ini dilakukan di Desa Tianyar Kecamatan Kubu Kabupaten Karangasem
selama 4 bulan ,yaitu dari tanggal 1 Juni sampai dengan tanggal 30 September 2015. Metode
yang digunakan dalam pelaksanaan pelatihan ini yaitu dengan metode praktek dan diklat
langsung dimulai dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan , dan evaluasi. Peserta dari kelompook Sri
Amerta dan Karya Santi berjumlah 30 orang. Pelatihan dianggap berhasil jika 95 % dapat
menyelesaikan seluruh program pelatihan tersebut. Penyelenggara berharap seluruh peserta
dapat menyelesaikan pelatihan hingga 100 %.

PENDAHULUAN

Pemberdayaan masyarakat adalah Upaya untuk membentuk dan mengubah


kehidupan masyarakat. Pemberdayaan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan anggota
masyarakat agar mampu membentuk, mengendalikan, mengarahkan, dan mengelola
hidupnya.
